In its first three games, Archbishop Murphy’s football team outscored its opponents 170-0 (http://www.maxpreps.com/high-schools/archbishop-murphy-wildcats-(everett,wa)/football/schedule.htm). Now opponents of the Everett, Wash., private school powerhouse aren’t even trying to beat them.

Literally.

With the latest opponent forfeiture, this one coming Wednesday by Granite Falls High, the Wildcats will move to 6-0, with their last three victories occurring without even having to play a down.

The reason? The Wildcats are just too huge.

Archbishop Murphy has six players who weight at least 250 pounds and three who weigh at least 300 pounds, according to CBS News (http://www.cbsnews.com/news/washington-archbishop-murphy-high-school-football-team-nobody-wants-to-play/).

Granite Falls held a community meeting in the school’s library Tuesday due to the injury concerns raised by parents, despite the school’s athletic director wanting to go through with the game, according to Seattle’s NBC affiliate KING 5 (http://www.king5.com/sports/high-school/granite-falls-becomes-third-team-to-forfeit-to-archbishop-murphy-hs/329119581). Archbishop Murphy team dominated the Tigers by scores of 66-6 in 2015 and 56-7 in 2014...

Yikes. This should concern the HS sports governing body in Washington state. But sanctions aren't likely to come.

Our sons high school teams probably has 10-15 over 280 and very few under 200. The enrollment for his school is around 260.

Our younger sons middle school teams has 7 of the 21 players over 200.

I'd like to point out this over in Western Washington. Cleet's side of the state is a little more soft.

Sanctions against whom?

Archbishop Murphy for recruiting big players (yes, Catholic high schools DO recruit athletes)?
The other schools for refusing to play in the name of player safety?

I played six man ball in Montana and it was pretty much the unwritten rule to take it easy on the smaller kids. We only had 38 kids in 9-12th grades. You start hurting the smaller guys and soon you got no team.

I also don't understand how anyone here would or should be sanctioned? Over what exactly?

They have a high school down the road in Bellevue that I believe has been ranked in the top 5 high school teams in the nation. Tons of recruiting, a coach that makes a **** ton for high school, and a nice little pipeline for U of Montana.
