2007 All-American Classic Cancelled

(01-05-07) LAS VEGAS, NEVADA- News that the 2007 All-American Classic has been cancelled was released today. A drop in sponsorship monies and a primary moneylender falling through has forced Game Director Darry Alton to cancel this year’s game. “When we signed our television contract we lost ability to work with the convention and tourism side of Las Vegas and any of the casinos. That left sponsorship holes that we could not fill. We have made every effort to recoup the funding and our last effort fell through today,” stated Alton. “We are embarrassed at such a late notice, but it is due to working so hard and trying to make the game happen. We are most disappointed in leaving the committed players without a game to showcase their talents but it makes no sense business wise to proceed with this years game.”

We do anticipate the All-American Classic being played in 2008, but under new ownership. The new owners are extraordinary men with a love for football and the financial backing to make the game successful. “Vegas is still the best place in America for an all-star game and next year the game will be bigger and better, just not under my reign” said Alton.

We appreciate and thank Findlay Toyota, the Southern Nevada Rotary and all of the NFL Teams for all of their efforts regarding the 2007 All-American Classic and for their continued support.

That's no good. JMU has 2 players that were going to play in it.

An old game is coming back though. The Blue-Gray is in the middle of negotations. I expect it to be played next year.
