NOTES TO KNOW
• Eastern Illinois beat Austin Peay, 56-35, on Saturday to improve to 3-1 overall, 1-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference. It marked the fifth straight season EIU has won its OVC opener including three wins over APSU to open conference play the last three seasons.
• Eastern Illinois churned out 641 yards of total offense on Saturday against Austin Peay. It was the ninth highest single game total in school history. The Panthers now rank 30th in the NCAA and second in the OVC in total offense averaging 422 yards per game.
• The Panthers rushing attack scored six rushing touchdowns on Saturday marking the eighth time in EIU's OVC era that the Panthers have rushed for six or more touchdowns. The last time was on Sept. 20, 2014 with six rushing touchdowns against Austin Peay in head coach Kim Dameron (http://www.eiupanthers.com/coaches.aspx?rc=673)'s first career win. The high was seven touchdowns versus Indiana State in 2007.
• David Johnson (http://www.eiupanthers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5167) and Christopher Anderson (http://www.eiupanthers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5216) both earned OVC weekly awards following the Panthers win over Austin Peay. Johnson was named the OVC Defensive Player of the Week while Anderson was the OVC co-Newcomer of the Week.
• Eastern Illinois moved up to No. 13 in this week's FCS rankings following the Panthers third straight win. EIU made its first appearance of the season in the polls last week landing at No. 16 in the FCS Coaches & Hero Sports polls and No. 18 in the STATS/FCS Media poll. It is the fifth straight season that EIU has been nationally ranked.
• Eastern Illinois defense forced three turnovers for the second straight week as the Panthers are now ranked 34th in the nation in turnovers gained. EIU had two interceptions and one fumble recovery in Saturday's win over Austin Peay. EIU has seven turnovers gained this year.
THE SERIES
• Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri will be meeting for the 24th time on Saturday with the Panthers leading the all-time series 17-6. EIU has won four straight in the series including a 33-28 win over the Redhawks last season in Charleston. SEMO's last win the series was in 2011 with a 37-30 victory. In that game SEMO rushed for 411 yards, the ninth highest total ever allowed by the Panthers. EIU has won in four of its last five visits to Houck Stadium.
