NOTES TO KNOW
• Eastern Illinois beat No. 5 ranked Illinois State in the 105th playing of the Mid-America Classic on Saturday. It was EIU's first win over a top-five ranked team since the Panthers knocked off No. 1 Northern Iowa on Nov. 7, 1992.

• Eastern Illinois rocketed back into the FCS Top 25 polls this week with the Panthers landing at No. 16 in the FCS Coaches Poll and No. 18 in the FCS STATS Media Poll. EIU has now been ranked in the FCS Top 25 in each of the last five seasons.

• Eastern Illinois is one of three FCS teams this season that have beaten both an FBS opponent and nationally ranked FCS opponent. The other two on that list are North Dakota State and Eastern Washington.

• Eastern Illinois has won its last four Ohio Valley Conference openers including wins over Austin Peay to begin the last two conference seasons. EIU has outscored it's opponents 195-79 in those four games with only the 2012 opener against Murray State a competitive game - EIU won that contest 50-49 going for two in the first overtime period.

• Over the last four meetings Eastern Illinois has beaten Austin Peay by an average of 58 to 11 with the Panthers scoring 60 or more points in three of those contests. In head coach Kim Dameron (http://www.eiupanthers.com/coaches.aspx?rc=673)'s first career win at EIU, over Austin Peay, the Panthers rushed for a school record 413 yards in the win.

• Eastern Illinois forced three turnovers on Saturday in the win at Illinois State. EIU converted two of those turnovers into ten first half points. EIU now has four turnovers gained in the last two games after failing to force a turnover in the season opener against Western Illinois.

THE SERIES
• Eastern Illinois and Austin Peay will meet for the 17th time this week as the Panthers open Ohio Valley Conference play. EIU leads the all-time series 13-3 including winning seven straight over the Governors. The Panthers have opened the last two OVC seasons with wins over APSU including head coach Kim Dameron (http://www.eiupanthers.com/coaches.aspx?rc=673)'s first career win on Sept. 20, 2014. Austin Peay's last win in the series was a 15-13 victory at O'Brien Field on Nov. 15, 2008.
