Controversy of the Graduate Transfer rule

I don't think the NCAA really can change the rule, the kid has graduated, you can't force them to stay.

A problem? Yes, for the institution and the coaches. Not for the student athlete.

Student athletes are chained to the institution that signs them for the duration of their undergrad careers without sitting out a year if they decide to transfer. This is so even if the coach who recruited them decides to leave and the student athlete no longer fits into the plans of the incoming coach. The graduate transfer rule is one of the few ways a student athlete who has proven himself capable at a mid major can prove to himself and NBA scouts that he is able to compete against the toughest collegiate competition.

Virtually every other NCAA rule is set up to protect the institution and coaches. Let's no take away the one rule that actually works to the benefit of the student athlete. Just my 2 cents.
