Would be way cooler if they would have named it the Southern-ish or Almost South Conference.

Thirteen teams, seven of them in Kentucky. Three teams named Eagles, two Bulldogs, two Tigers. University of the Cumberlands in the East Division, Cumberland University in the West.

UPike was actually up 14-7 at one point before finally succumbing to the EKU depth 55-14.

As I said don't sleep on the UPike Tigers!

Honestly, who could sleep on a tiger. That sounds insanely dangerous.

Yes, the OVC is the only conference who occasionally plays an NAIA team... Bastards.

No they aren't, but they are one of the select few conferences with teams nice enough to let the NAIA team lead ;)

idk I think UND lost to an NAIA team. Maybe a F'n Hawk can comment.

When people start trash talking FCS programs for taking on lower level teams...I get it, it's easy to pile on (I have done it in the past too)...then I remember that fans of P5 schools talk the same ***** when their programs take on FCS programs, even moreso when those FCS programs take a lead in the first quarter. :)

FCS teams (63 scholarships) are much closer in level to FBS teams (85 scholarships) than NAIA teams (24 scholarships) are to FCS teams.

Is the stigma the same playing non-Scholls FCS teams or NEC teams? :D

I didn't like seeing the game on the schedule either. Without it we would have had a 10 game schedule (with only 4 home games) due to a cancellation. UPike's head coach, Al Holland is also a former EKU QB. Filled an open week on our schedule at the last minute and helps a former Colonel with his program.

Yes, the Colonels trailed early before scoring the last 48 stright. As I pointed out in another thread Bennie Coney was out with concussion and Maty Mauk was out with a separated shoulder. EKU played the 3rd string QB along with 4th string QB who is currently listed on the roster at WR rather than pulling off any redshirts. This was a 5 day turnaround Thursday game following the Purdue game. As vanilla a game as I've ever seen when it came to play calling. Didn't seem to want to run up the score in any way.

While I don't like seeing these games on the schedule, if you have to play one keep it in the family. Pretty sure EKU is not the first team to play down in doing a solid for a former player that is coaching in a new program. In a way, similar to how we found our way onto the Purdue schedule. That game was scheduled when Danny Hope was coaching at Purdue.

Kudos to EKU for scheduling this one. They probably paid out enough to support UPike's travel budget for their entire schedule....Think about the pay out FCS gets from FBS and what that means to the budget....again Kudos for support Football inyour area, EKU!!!
