NOTES TO KNOW• Eastern Illinois will be playing a game against an FBS school for the 39th time in school history. *The Panthers are 5-33 all-time in those games with the last win a 40-19 victory at San Diego State on Aug. 31, 2013. *Four of the Panthers five FBS wins have come against teams in the Mid-American Conference, the last over Eastern Michigan, 31-28, on Sept. 25, 2004.*• This will be EIU's fifth FBS contest played in the state of Ohio. *EIU lost at Ohio University in 2014. *The Panthers have made trips to Toledo in 1984 and 2000 and to Akron in 1987.• Eastern Illinois opened the 2016 season with a 38-21 loss at home to Western Illinois. *EIU turned the ball over three times leading to 17 WIU points as the Panthers lost in the season opener to the Leathernecks for the second straight year.• Miami dropped its 2016 season opener on the road with a 45-21 loss at Iowa. *The Hawkeyes jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter while recovering three Miami fumbles in the game.• This will be Miami's sixth game against an FCS opponent. *The Redhawks are 4-1 in those previous contests with the lone loss coming to Ohio Valley Conference member Eastern Kentucky during the 2014 season.• EIU quarterback Mitch Kimble threw for 323 yards during his first start in a Panthers uniform. *He became the third EIU quarterback to throw for 300 or more yards in their first career start joining Mike Simpson with 321 yards against Western Michigan in 1996 and Sean Payton with 325 yards against Grand Valley State in 1984.• Last season Eastern Illinois made its 16th FCS playoff appearance. *That total ranks sixth all-time for FCS playoff appearance. *EIU has made ten playoff appearances since 2000.THE SERIES• This will be the first meeting between Eastern Illinois and Miami. *The Panthers will playing their 11th game against a team from the Mid-American Conference. *EIU is 3-7 in those previous games with wins over Western Michigan, Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan. *The Panthers also have a win over current MAC member Akron, when the Zips were playing as an NCAA Division I Independent in 1989. *EIU is 13-17 all-time against teams from the state of Ohio.
