Don't forget about wonderful Irish food. I probably ate boiled potatoes at least 5 days per week growing up.
I don't know about five days a week, but we ate a lot of potatoes. Mash em one supper, then potato pancakes for breakfast. Mmmmmmmmmmmm

There was a small cafe in Clearbrook MN that had the Klub. The first year we hunted up there the place was packed on Klub day. Of course I had no idea what it was. So I ordered my breakfast and a klub because there were 8 of us and they all wanted to try it also. Of course there were 2 kinds of klub. Reg and ham. I went with the ham. When it arrived it looked like a small cannon ball. As i cut it in to portions there was ONE , I repeat 1 small piece of ham in the center. Of course the other patrons saw the ham and exclamed oooooooooh you got a good one. And all shared on the best way to garnish it. Some like butter, some syrup, others just plain and some jelly. After eating my portion I can honestly say it felt like I had an anvil in my stomach and had no issues missing lunch. So it was appropriate when they served it like a cannonball.
You just described the potato klub experience. If you ate one of those bad boys in the morning, you might be able to eat again at 8:00 pm. I have never seen potato klub served the way it is in the pic I posted. It is usually just of ball of potatoes drowning in butter.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn, west of the Philly airport, and the hotel was right on the Delaware river. Stood out there for a while hoping a dead body would float by, no luck.

the POD would of been about 25 % depending on time of day, ebb or flood, your height of eye above sea level to detect that body... East River 50 %

If you don't think traditional German food is great then get the **** outta here
Rouladen: pork warpped about bacon, chopped onion, picke, mustard, and the braised. Put gravey over this with mashed potatoes and/or blaukraut....
http://www.expatica.com/media/upload/718885.jpg
Eintopf is tough to beat on cold day
http://www.expatica.com/media/upload/720673.jpg
Sauerbraten: pot roast marinated in wine, vineagar, mix of spices and herbs. Plated with sauerkarut and dumplings....Sunday lunch at it's best
http://www.expatica.com/media/upload/718890.jpg
Potato pancake aka Kartoffelpuffer
http://www.expatica.com/media/upload/718887.jpg
Plus all of the wursts, schnitzels and deserts like strudels, Scwarzwalder Kirschtorte (I think I got the right) AKA Black Forest Cherry Cake, etc...
That's the stuff I grew up on. Sunday lunches with the entire family.

German food is a 1000X better than Norwegian stuff. Germans actually have meat instead of rotting fish in their stuff.

I did, but everyone knows how good schnitzel is so I didn't feature it, just like the many types of wursts. It's like Philly - they can bang about their cheese steak all day long but bring something else to the table.
Rouladen or sauerbraten I'd eat all day every day and it's much less known that a schnitzel to "outsiders"

I can't wait for the Montana crew to get here in a few weeks so they can experience this place!
I don't get there near enough
The photo they use on the front of their menu? That's exactly what their meal looks like when you order it...and they just keep bringing bowls of everything as you finish it until you tell them to stop

From where I live is about 40 minutes or so. It's nuts to think about but the colonies, time wise, aren't much further from CF than the far Ne side of the CR metro.
I'm about 17 miles, as the crow flies, from Kinnick but it takes 45 to 50 minutes to get there. I'm 61 miles, by car from the dome and get there in 55 minutes.

All we would need is...a place that delivers quality pizza.
Remember this name...Grotto's.
:pumpuke:
If someone tries to sell you the idea that Grotto's = good pizza...they are trying to make you look foolish.
Pick up something from Almalfi's. If you are adventurous, try their crab pizza. xnodx
Two Stones Pub...outstanding beer and great food. Iron Hill...solid.
Sunday...the food truck next to the Co-op off Main Street...great fish tacos xthumbsupx(the guy is from Thailand).
Hell, if you come up a day or two early, or stay an extra day, I'll take folks out sailing.

No Tony's Cafe? Taverna? Wood Fired Pizza Shop? Big Z? Pat's? Mario's? Amalfi? Tony's Bistro? Agostino's? Nick & Joe's? Cacciatori's? Dominic's? Amore? Rudy's?... You're killing me Smalls. And we're just talking Newark, not even making the short trip to Little Italy in Wilmington.
xnodx
Good list.
Margarita's certainly has gone down in the last couple years...and Peace of Pizza is an odd duck that has its fans...but Grotto's and Season's? xlolx Pat's belongs in the dumpster with those two.
Cafe Napoli has a FREAKING AWESOME jerk chicken pizza, but it is outside Newark.
We should also talk liquor stores...State Line is one of the best in the country. The Nodaks sure won't go hungry or thirsty during their visit.
This will be a fun thread for the next couple years. It will be even better if Brock actually decides to develop into a football coach.

About an hour into PA from Newark is Shady Maple (http://www.shady-maple.com/smorgasbord). I usually prefer going for breakfast, as it's $10 all you can eat ($12 on Saturday). Lunch is $14 ($20 Sat.) and dinner varies from $19-24. Elastic waistband pants probably a good idea
