How are all your college ball teams doing?
we played Buffalo way back in the beginning of the season, and they were on a month long trip to the south to get some games in before their stadium thawed out.

Lehigh is currently 16-13-1 and 5-3 in the Patriot. The Patriot plays back to back doubleheaders on Saturday and Sundays. Top three make tournament, with top regular season getting bye. One game play-in between #2 & 3 and then a three game series vs. #1.

I got a chance to see Northwestern State (29-12, SLC 13-2) in Huntsville this weekend as they won two out of three from the Kats. They are in the 30 range as it comes to RPI.
Wins over LA Tech, Kansas State, split with then #16 Ole Miss, knocked off then #19 Baylor. Won one over Oklahoma. Knocked off UNI, swept two from Eastern Michigan. Tough team with some young arms. Looking very good. They keep winning, they could get a NCAA at-large even with a loss in the SLC title game.

GSU is projected as a #4 at-large seed in the Tallahassee Regional. That would be great to see two SoCon teams get in. (College of Charleston is listed at a #2 seed in the Auburn regional which also projects Maine as a 4 seed.)

Thanks for posting that link. Not sure I agree with it. Rice would be going on the road instead of hosting a regional, though they would be a #1 seed in the Tuscon Regional. I think that is ridiculous.
If Rice is a #1, they should host a regional. They have a fine facility and if they are #1, they should host because folks are going to go out there to watch some baseball. Anyone else been out to Reckling? I've never enjoyed a ballpark as much as that one. Majors, minors or collegiate.

With this past weekend's four game sweep of Holy Cross, Lehigh has run off 6 straight to tie the Cadets for first in the Patriot League, both now at 9-3, as Army dropped one of three at Bucknell. Lehigh now 20-13-1 on the season.

What's everyone's though on pushing the season back later for the northern teams can have a "fair shot" at the teams in the south? Would it even really help, because the southern teams can play baseball 12 months a year still and the northerns could not. Restrict practice all you want, but there's ways to play and get some great practice among themselves.

It would never work, but what about splitting the season. Much like collegiate golf...have a fall season and then a Spring season. Northern teams can take advantage of the August-October weather in the north....cool but not too cold. ???

I always thought the seasons should be switched. Baseball in August to November, Football - March to May. Weather is generally better in late summer and fall (at least here in the northeast), whereas Spring is so unpredictable playing havoc with schedules. Football would be unaffected--it never rains on a football field. :D

I just don't see how you could split a baseball season. How would that possibly work? You don't do that in basketball or anything.
Also, what about softball? What do you do with that too? I haven't heard same complaints, but I am sure they are there.

The road ahead certainly only gets tougher ...
We have the rest of the week off then have to go play a good Elon team. Have the rest of the following week off then have to play an ok Chuck Southern team. That's not too bad - but the following Tuesday we play at #4 GaTech and the next day play at #10 UNC. Then the following Friday start a series at UNC-A.
We need to try to get rested up as much as possible over the next 2 weeks, we'll need it.

After splitting four games with Navy this past Sunday and Monday, Lehigh has slipped back to second place behind Army at 11-5, with the Black Knights in first at 13-3. LU overall is 23-16-1. Absent a total collapse, the Mountain Hawks should be in great position for th PL tourney. Question will be who will be the #3 seed.

Last year on this date, Coastal was 26-14 and went 14-7 through the BSC tournament. They got a bid with a 40-21 record so it can be done . They lost the first 2 games in Atlanta to North Carolina and the Citadel to be eliminated early.
