After 13 historic seasons and three NBA championships with the Miami Heat (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/mia/), Dwyane Wade (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3708/) has informed the Chicago Bulls he plans to sign a deal with the franchise, league sources told The Vertical.

Wade signing a deal likely to be worth $48 million over two years, sources said, is contingent on the Bulls unloading several contracts to clear salary-cap space, a prospect that Chicago officials believe they were close to completing Wednesday night.

Wade plans to return to his childhood home, where he idolized Bulls icon Michael Jordan as a young boy and moved on to become an All-American at Marquette and a 12-time NBA All-Star with Miami.

Wade joins a reshaped Bulls lineup that will include Rajon Rondo (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4149/) at point guard and necessitate the move of All-Star shooting guard Jimmy Butler (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4912/) to small forward...

USA Today is reporting g the deal with Chicago is a two-year, $47.5 million deal for Wade, a person with direct knowledge of the deal told USA TODAY Sports.

The NBA salary cap is really F'ed up right now.

What does this get the Bulls? A miss mash group of over the hillers? The front office lost one Chicogoan in Rose and felt compelled to bring in someone else to sell tickets to watch a middling team.

The NBA is so blah. I'll watch but there's so many helpless fan bases with teams that legitimately have no chance. The Jaguars or Bills have a better odds at a championship this year than regular playoff teams like Portland or Indiana.

I don't get Chicago.

They bring in Hoiberg, who wants to go fast, and then give him a roster with Jimmy Butler, Wade and Rondo who are all use the full clock guys.

He's also rather strict in his coaching style. That'll go over well with those 2 new guys...there are already stories on everyone in Chicago hated it last year

Meanwhile, us Wolves fans will enjoy us some Thibs

Hoiberg is a damn good offensive coach but from what I've read he's got a huge ego. He's been slurped since he was 12 years old. He's the "Mayor" who could do no wrong in the eyes of Ames Iowa. He went to Chicago and landed on team with strong personalities, Noah/Butler, and had no balls to fall back on.

I feel bad for Donovan. He's a helluva coach imo, easily one of the top bball minds in the sport. If I'm UCLA I get on my hands and knees and ask him what will it take( $7, $8 million per?) to come back to college. Bill Walton should go into hiding if that's what it takes. Donovan would kill it in Westwood....

We were talking about that at work today. If he was smart he would have taken less and went to play with the Cavs or something. The East needs a team to compete with the Warriors. If the Cavs don't get some serious pickups they (and everyone else in the league) is going to get STEAMROLLED by the Warriors next year.

I can only imagine what the NFL would look like if they raised the salary cap to the extent the NBA has.

His whole point of leaving was that he felt that we weren't offering enough, plus the Cavs are WAY over the cap so the only way he could sign was through the MLE for $4.5 million. Wade just wanted one last big payday before retiring and plus he's always wanted to play for his hometown Bulls, because after taxes the difference between the $40 mil we offered and the $47 million he got is negligible.

At the end of the day, it's a business. I would have hated to see the Heat in a Kobe situation a year from now, now we have a lot more options going forward. His jersey is still going to be retired and he'll probably get a bronze statue outside AA Arena in Miami. But he wanted more money than we had to give thanks to how our cap room was structured. I wish him the best of luck in Chicago.

The Bulls are a mess. Paxson/Forman have no idea what they are doing.

A starting line up of Wade, Rondo, Jimmy Butler, Taj Gibson and Robin Lopez

A bench of Doug McDermott, Nikola Mirotic, Denzel Valentine, Bobby Portis, Jerian Grant........

Makes no sense putting this group together.

That starting line up had just 188 made 3 pointers last season and Rondo and Wade are both 28% shooters from deep for their career

I don't think Cavs could afford to pay anywhere close to what he is going to get (not even $10 million if I am correct).

How much are they going to be paying LeBron? The last number I saw said they were working out a contract pushing $200m?

He'll pick up his option for this year and then sign next year.

The new TV money really kicks in next year.

C'mon Supe - you have to use the name Mr. Wade's (illiterate?) momma gave him. It's DWYANE, not Dwayne.

By afford, I meant for cap reasons. I know you can go over the cap but I think they will have used all of their exceptions so they would not be allowed to pay much this year.

I know but I was saying with a contract like LeBron's I would imagine it's a pretty sizable cap hit.

Not as much as you'd think.

The NBA is odd with their cap. It's more about individual caps than team caps.
