View Full Version : Anyone been watching the NBA finals?

It looks like King James is about to get swept by Golden State. And it's not for a lack of trying on James' part, his team and the Cavs' game plan just isn't working.

I get the feeling that we are seeing one of the best NBA teams ever to hit the court.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I've watched maybe a couple of minutes of each game- tops. I'm was a basketball player and coach, but the Stanley Cup is much more exciting.

Game 3 will be key for Cleveland. Lose and they mail in Game 4.

I wish that OKC had won that series, this would be more interesting.

I hate watching basketball. Fouls are called left and right for no reasons, the last 5 minutes of the game can go on for an hour with the timeouts, and the announcers always gushing over star players.

NBA is crap IMO. I liked it in the 80s watching Dr J, Bird and Magic.

I'll watch the NHL over the NBA any day.

Same. It would be nice to have ONE entertaining game in the finals. I don't see James and the Cavs getting much traction in the next two games. I can't tell if the Cavs are just playing bad ball or GS is just THAT good.

have lost touch with the NBA but I gotta hand it to Curry, love the way he plays the game... giving LeBron a lesson!

LeBron dunks for show, Curry swishes 3's for the dough!

I love a long distance shooter and Curry is the best pound for pound player in the history of the game bar none!

I thought GS was going to pull off a comeback until Thompson missed the three at the beginning of the fourth. It was all downhill from there.

And here I was expecting Cleveland to get swept.

The Warriors are everything that is wrong with basketball in general.

A.) Curry is the worst. His daughter sucks, his wife sucks, just everything about him sucks. Good shooter though!
B.) Steve Kerr...liked when he was an announcer, now he's just a little *****.
C.) Klay Thompson...who spells Clay with a K? A loser....thats who.

LeBron is my man. I have enjoyed watching him demolish these clowns the past two games. He is first in everything in these finals. First in points, assists, rebounds, EVERYTHING. MVP.

Huh, maybe Curry's wife did have some reason to be a little upset? I would be too.

And there were a few calls that could have been made that could have helped the Warriors out a little. At least that I saw.

However, Steve Kerr didn't blame the outcome of the game on bad officatiating. He EXPLICITLY said so. He was just frustrated with it as it pertained to Curry.

It had nothing to do with the outcome. The outcome was decided. But he (Curry) had every right to be upset.

He even went on to say...

Let me be clear, we did not lose because of the officiating. They totally outplayed us and Cleveland deserved to win.

Plus, how is that ANY different or any worse than Tyronn Lue complaining about officials after game 4?

"He (LeBron) never gets calls," Lue said. "I mean, he attacks. He's one of the most -- outside of Russell Westbrook, he's one of the guys that attacks the paint every single play. And he doesn't get a fair whistle all the time because of his strength and because of his power and guys bounce off of him. But those are still fouls and we weren't able to get them. But we've got to play through officiating."
http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/2016/06/tyronn_lue_fined_25000_for_pub.html

THAT is what blaming a loss on the refs looks like.

I didn't watch the game but saw the replay of the controversial 6th foul on Curry but I fail to see what was so bad about it. He actually fouled Lebron twice. Lebron did over-sell it the second time, as he is wont to do, and got the call. Curry shouldn't have even thought about taking a swipe at the ball 80 feet from the basket one time, let alone twice. It looked to me like he had lost his cool before the whistle even blew and after it did he went completely off the rails.

I sure hope they've got something to back that up, otherwise it's pretty ****ty to just throw out accusations like that as an excuse for you wife being a whiny bitch. Just seems like an odd place for police to do something racially motivated with the amount of minorities that are fans, media, and associated with the NBA. Would be more believable to me at a NHL game or a PGA event. If it did happen I completely understand being pissed as hell. But that's a pretty big bombshell to drop. And given her history with her mouth, I'll believe it when I see some sort of proof.

Edit: Her original tweet about it blamed the incident on race.

Fair enough. I suppose it's not the child's fault. It's her mom and dad's fault... And the media's for making her into some sort of celebrity of sorts.

There has been plenty of times when go on ESPN.com and one of the videos/stories is basically "Look what Riley Curry did this time!"

I agree with this, everybody left Cleveland for dead after game 4, they won three in a row against the best team in NBA history (???) and brought a title to the "Mistake on the Lake". Pretty good stuff in my opinion.

True, but he margins of victory in the first six games were 15, 33, 30, 11, 15, and 14 points respectively. Not exactly nail-biters.

That doesn't tell the story of the series completely.

Look at the scores of the first two games. The western conference team blows the ****ty eastern conference out twice. Series over. Not even a contest.

****ty eastern team dominates game 3 and we think, well maybe we might have a series.

Series then moves to 3-1 and no way in hell the eastern team comes back. No team has ever over come that deficit in the finals, especially when you take into account the western team had 73 regular season wins and that eastern team fired it's coach mid year.

Then a team that lost 2 home games all season long loses the final 2 home games of the finals, including a game 7 (just the 4th time a home team lost a finals game 7). Oh, that same Golden State team hasn't lost three in a row since November 2013.

A team that lost 9 games all year lost 9 in the playoffs.

A team with the best shooters in the league shoots a percentage that would have been last in the NBA during the regular season.

Oh and that's without even bringing in story lines revolving around LBJ in his 6th straight finals. Trying to break the steep type he can't win without D Wade. He can't win in Cleveland. He isn't clutch. The roster was built by him so if he can't win with it than he will never do it. It doesn't even mention just how completely dominating he was in every aspect of the series

Its ignoring witnessing Kyrie become "Kyrie" on a national stage. He's always been good but he put on a show for a national audience like he hasn't before.

It's ignoring the story line that Kyrie and Love weren't on the floor for last year's finals. It's looking at the series going "****, what could have been if even one of Kyrie or Love had been healthy last year".

It's ignoring the story line of Draymond Green and all of his bull****. Also ignoring the fact that his suspension probably doesn't happen if he was properly disciplined in the conference finals against OKC, because Golden State was down 3-1 and if he is suspended GS doesn't come back to win that series.

This finals, along with the west finals, was everything anyone could have wanted in a series. The only thing that would have made it better is if it was Lebron that hot that 3 and not Kyrie

Grizalltheway
June 21st, 2016, 06:39 PM
Take it easy, Adam Silver. I'm not saying that the series taken as a whole wasn't compelling, just that most of the games weren't as close as you would hope they'd be between the two best teams in the league.

Or signing a one year deal in OKC then next year when the new cap hits sign a 250m contract in OKC

I don't know why he needs to leave to win. OKC is a Kevin Love like player away from winning a title as it sits now.

Golden State, as crazy as this sounds, needs serious help in the post.

Maybe Curry and Thompson will shoot 50% from three their whole career. Even at that we saw what happens with tired legs by the time finals, and really conference finals, hit.

They have zero inside presence to protect them. Green isn't really a post presence. Bogut has yet to ever be healthy or reliable for long stretches in his career. Verejao? Ha!

The last thing the Warriors need is another player to spend 90% of the game on the wing and shooting 90% of his shots from outside 17 feet

Interesting to note on Love, not that Minnesota would have him back (though he is almost exactly what the Wolves need) is a trade that would send him back to Minnesota

Essentially it's the 5th pick to New York, Melo to Cleveland and Love to Minnesota.

A Wolves starting line up of
Rubio (just 25 years old and one of the best passing PG in the league, just can't shoot)

Lavine (only 21 years old and one of the highest potential ceilings in the league)

Wiggins (just 20 years old one of the best young players in the league and already a top 30 guy)

Love (a bit older but not old and assuming he moves past whatever being with Lebron did to his psyche)

KAT (19 years old after rookie of the year award and already a top 15 player)

That's a top half I'm the western starting line up. Need to find bench help beyond Shabazz and Dieng but it's damngoo good start

Don't know if MN would have him back though. He burned a lot of bridges on his way out of MPLS over his last few years with comments he made.

Sports radio out of MPLS is 100% opposed. They don't want his attitude around such a young core of players.

If the Wolves hold on to the pick I expect Jamaal Murray to be the pick. Another Kentucky freshman-KAT has completely sold MN to the Kentucky program. wolves putting major emphasis on shooting and Murray has it. That would offset the Rubio shortcomings. If Murray isn't there the wolves move out.

I don't suppose so. Last I read there were no reported injuries. And he was facing like a $500 fine.
