FBS schools just don't visit FCS schools unless there's a hurricane. I bet most of the transition schools future schedules are cancelled, especially if these expedited waivers go through.

Either that or reach an agreement that switches the "return" of the H&H back to SHSU and they pay them some $ to make it a FBS game for YSU. I guess it's kinda the same thing, but keeps the teams scheduled playing the same weekend.

That's what happened with us and Coastal Carolina a few years back. We played at their place in 2015 (https://goleathernecks.com/news/2015/9/19/FB_0919154601.aspx) as what was supposed to be the first game of a H&H series. The return game was scheduled for 2017, but in the meantime, CCU went FBS. So, they paid us to come play at their place again in their first year as an FBS in 2017 instead (and beat them by 42 points (https://goleathernecks.com/news/2017/9/23/football-western-rolls-to-fbs-win-at-coastal-carolina.aspx)).

Back when Division I-A at least threatened to enforce attendance requirements, Idaho used to play Washington State in Pullman and have the game count as an Idaho home game. They did this to ensure they broke the 15,000 yearly average threshold. Playing one game against Wassu in front of 35K made up for the games at the Kibbie Dome that drew in the 10-12K range.

Back then you either needed a) 30,000 seat stadium -- which Idaho didn't have or b) average 15,000 per game. I think the stadium size portion was dropped in the early 2000's but this is why stadiums at schools like Buffalo and Middle Tennesee State are needlessly large.

Not under this administration, apparently. There was the feeling that David Roach scheduled too many of them. A number of NY metro alumni, including myself, thought a series with Wagner might be desirable, but it never happened. With a new AD, hopefully that will change.

No, NDSU is not. One of the issues at this point is television broadcast rights. When NDSU played at Towson, the game was not available on ESPN+, and the CAA would not allow NDSU to have a broadcast back in North Dakota. (NDSU had played at Delaware a couple of years earlier and was allowed to have their own broadcast, so NDSU thought they would be able to have another one without issue when playing Towson). This made lots of NDSU fans furious as they did not want to pay to subscribe to the CAA streaming service.

Since the Towson game, NDSU athletics basically stated that if they would have known that they were not allowed to broadcast the game back in North Dakota, they would not have signed the contract.

Moving forward, it appears that NDSU will sign home and home agreements with teams that are members of conferences that have ESPN+ broadcast rights. This will reduce potential options for NDSU and the opponent(s).

Another item for understanding is the size of the stadiums that NDSU will play in. NDSU will bring lots of fans to their away games, especially when the games are help in locations that fans have not been to before and/or that the fans view as a "destination" city in which fans can make a vacation out of the trip. Stadiums that have low capacities are most likely going to be considered later than those stadiums that are larger.

FUBeAR just saw the funding had increased from $4.1 to $4.2 million in the past 60 days. So, they are raising $50k/month and have 9 months to raise the $2.8 million they still need to have something permanent in place by 8/30/25. FUBeAR was not a math major, but if he ciphers up a few aughts and carries a naught or 3, he gets that $450k <<<< $2.8 million. So, wouldn’t really expect anything more than what you see in the pic. If they do get the cash raised, FUBeAR did see the plans are for only 2000 seats on that side. Thought it was 3500 at one point….was about 7,000 before that …

The peeps of that particular nape of the woods ain’t real fond of giving up their territory to folks from above certain parallels. Not sure what %age of the Home side is already sold out with season ticket holders and the corps of cadets, but it’s pretty high. Some of those peeps have had had their El Cid Football tickets even before they had their Masters Patrons badges. And the corps of cadets has guns, so you don’t wanna go tryna move them outta their seats.

Y’all ain’t going to some neutral stadium in Frisco, TX or Macomb, IL. Those Home seats are like many a virtuous Southern Belle. They’s spoken for.

Never happen. Bulldog fans are extremely loyal. This game will perk up even more interest. We outdrew CCU fans in their stadium back in 15. We travel well, we do even better at home. Our attendance has dipped a bit along with everyone but our home side has been fairly full. If we can only get our finances in order and build our visitors side back..... We had a solid 22k+ stadium but that's been slashed in half when our visitors side was condemned. Fairly sure the virus has held us up a couple years. Our home side is one of the best.

Nice area of the country to go visit though and the game at Nissan Stadium in Nashville against Tennessee St the week after might increase the numbers a bit from people who'll make it a 2 week(end) long trip.

EDIT: Of course that "destination game" in Nashville the week after might mean fewer Bison fans in Charleston since most of us will have to choose one or the other if we go at all.

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman head football coach Clay Hendrix (https://furmanpaladins.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/clay-hendrix/700) today announced the addition of games against both South Carolina State and Richmond for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

Furman will play host to South Carolina State in 2026 and take on the Bulldogs in Orangeburg in 2027.

Furman is scheduled to travel to Richmond in 2026 before welcoming the Spiders to Paladin Stadium in 2027.

"These are great regional rivalry games against outstanding institutions we should be playing," said Hendrix. "We've had some tremendous games against S.C. State over the years, and Furman and Richmond have both won national (FCS) championships -- an achievement that's very rare among private schools."

Furman and S.C. State last played in 2015 in a contest the Paladins won, 17-3, in Greenville. The two Palmetto state programs have met 17 times over the years in a series Furman leads 12-5.

The Paladins and Spiders, for many years former Southern Conference rivals, last clashed on the football field in 2004 in FCS (formerly I-AA) football playoff action. Furman won that contest, at Richmond, 24-20, and has captured the last three encounters. The Paladins claimed a 31-17 decision over the Spiders in 2003, in Richmond's last visit to Paladin Stadium.

S.C. State is a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), while Richmond belongs to the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). The Paladins posted a 31-6 win over Elon in FCS first round playoff action in 2022, in their last encounter against a CAA foe.

Furman previously announced a pair of football game versus CAA member William & Mary, including a Sept. 21, 2024, contest in Williamsburg and Sept. 6, 2025, clash in Greenville. The Paladins are also scheduled to play at new CAA member North Carolina A&T on Sept. 13, 2025.

The Paladins are currently ranked seventh in the nation after opening conference play with a 38-14 win over Mercer at Paladin Stadium. Next up, the Paladins entertain The Citadel on Oct. 7 for Family Weekend at Furman University. Tickets for this Palmetto State rivalry, which spans 102 games and dates from 1913, are available by visiting furmanpaladins.com or calling 864-294-3099.

Yes they do, but these schools have been indifferent at best and disinterested at worst as to scheduling Georgetown. Howard has turned down more than a few opportunities and once terminated a series so as to sign up for a guarantee game which they lost 66-0. Villanova wants nothing to do with a Georgetown series, and the Ivies are really not interested.

What do all these opponents have in common with Georgetown, save perhaps Villanova? No real rivalry exists that would prioritize scheduling Georgetown.
