Woodard is on cloud 9.He said Jags brought him in and were impressed with his skills. Proud of him. He's in Florida already with his girlfriend who is a former UCA Sugar Bear basketball player. Disney fun the day before you get drafted...awesome!

That was great for him. Very few teams had him on the draft board. I'm glad someone took him. I know his senior year was not as good and teams downgraded him from his junior year so I'm glad to see his pro day got someone to give him a shot. I thought he would be a PFA, with a shot to go in the early 7th, who would stick somewhere because of his traits. He should be able to make the Jags practice squad at least.

Jags coach said he saw Woodard double teamed his senior season according to Woodard. Wont see that in the NFL. Jags had a great draft. If he makes the practice squad it will mean he hustled more than all those draftees and returners. Proud of him either way.

I'm not sure how they don't. He was 6'1, 245 and ran a 4.78 twice at pro day. 1.57 10-yard, 9 3/4 hand, 32 1/2 arm, 18 bench reps, 11.78 60 shuttle, 9'10 broad jump, 33 1/2 VJ, 4.25 short shuttle, and 6.75 3-cone.

An interesting note on Bates is that he can't fully extend his right arm because of an elbow injury from his youth.

He should have been signed right after the draft. I was shocked when all he got was a tryout. He and the Sam Houston State punters were the two best from FCS I had seen in a long time.

Agreed, I'm not sure why teams were sleeping on him. Maybe it's because he got snubbed by the PA Bowl. :D

Bad news:

The Jacksonville Jaguars have lost seventh-round defensive end Jonathan Woodard for the season to an Achilles injury during Phase 2 on-field workouts. Woodard had successful Achilles tendon repair surgery.

Good news:

In all honesty, Woodard going on injured reserve is a good scenario for both the player and the Jaguars. Woodard wasn't likely going to make the 53-man roster, but if the team tried to put him on the practice squad he could have been good enough to get signed by another team. With the move to injured reserve, the Jaguars get a year to "stash" him away and a full offseason to evaluate him.

Those Jags are cursed.

I wanted him in Minnesota. I'm sick of watching Locke limp leg punts.

I don't think Comp was snubbed as much as just a victim of numbers. They took the WVU and SHSU punters with one getting drafted and the other was a PFA. Comp had to earn a training camp spot as a tryout, unlike the others. I do think he should have been invited to the Tropic Bowl or CGS. I liked him all along and have him as a top 100 small schooler so I felt he was worth a contract.
