This time an OL, Kyle Smith, has joined LB AJ Schlatter in football heaven. Passed away in his apartment Wednesday evening. No cause of death announced.

Sad, sad news. Prayers to his family and to the PSU football team.

So sorry to hear news like this even once but twice to the same team in one off season is just heartbreaking for that school and those families.

My son is a freshman in college and I can't imagine what their parents are going through losing a child like this. Horrible news.

It is being investigated as a possible drug overdose. It is unclear at this time what happened or what drugs are involved but Portland Police are investigating.

Hate to say my first though was OD but hearing found alone in an apt is tough to think something else.

Terrible off season for PSU. Hope the team and families of the passed players come together and move forward together.

Pretty good read from QB Kuresa and Coach Barnum in the link below. The team cancelled spring practice Thursday and Barnum left it up to the seniors as to whether to practice on Friday, and they did. From the sounds of it, it seems like it was "energetic".
