Just wondering what impact this will have on FCS schools who would often have coaches attend these camps. I know Temple has run a camp in Pittsburgh in the past that had FCS, D-II and D-III coaches working it as well.

It seems that it primarily affects FBS coaches, so the camps can still bring in FCS, D2, and D3 employees.

The B1G is the only Power 5 league that opposed this...tough break Coach Meyer and Coach Harbaugh.

Wonder if this affects things like what SDSU just did by holding a practice in Rapid City on the opposite side of the state and then having a little kids camp afterwards. Would be a shame IMHO.

How long before P5 universities start acquiring facilities in Ft. Lauderdale and the Bahamas? Call them centers for Marine and Athletic Studies. Of course since the students at those facilities would not have ready access to the facilities at the main campus, they would need to include athletic fields, locker rooms, weight rooms, and stadiums capable of hosting intramural competitions. Of course, a few weeks a year in the spring, the football team would come down for spring practice. Since it all takes part at a permanent university facility, there is nothing in this new NCAA rule stopping them.
As far as FCS goes, I read that this is only applicable to FBS schools.

it costs alot of money to send the players/coaches/staff up to the satellites.

with the NCAA in SEC's back pocket, a stronger B10 is not a good look for them. lol.

Personally I would love to see OSU, MSU, and Michigan (or any B1G or anyone really) tear some SEC ass this year.

Personally I would love to see OSU, MSU, and Michigan (or any B1G or anyone really) tear some SEC ass this year. Me too. But of course, I want to see Nebraska finally win one big ten title in football. Man, thought the big red would dominate that league? Guess not. GO CATS!

Harbaugh is a clown. This idea that he's even on the level of urban meyer is pretty crazy. Michigan is going to continue to get dominated by Ohio state. Regardless, why should the camps be legal. What does a satellite football camp have to do with college?

The kids trying to get recruited....you know...high school kids go to the Michigan camp...he aint good enough for Michigan but Bowling Green or Youngstown likes him. Thats the benefits I've seen. I think thats the concept here.

That is exactly it.
Most FCS schools invite D2 and D3 coaches to their camps to either help out or just watch. High school kid knows going in exactly what coaches are going to be there and can pick the one that is most beneficial, etc.
Go to one camp and be seen by 15-20 staffs or travel around to 4-5 camps wearing yourself out all summer at a huge expense.

That's ridiculous. The NCAA should not be sanctioning that crap. A university of Florida camp, should be at the University of florida, in front of university of Florida coaches. If kids from other parts of the country can't afford it, and that hurts your conscience for some strange reason. Let the university of Florida pay for them to come, just like they do with official visits.
All this is about is these coaches being able to watch all these too kids run around and do a bunch of drills against each other. Year round football. Specialization. Thats what this promotes. There is PLENTY of exposure. These coaches don't want to have to rely on their ability to judge players on their film. They want to watch them run 40s and shuttles and all this other garbage.

Yeah no. Michigan last season was the subject of an Ohio State that had just taken their first loss in 20 something games. They lost their star in Elliot. As much of an OSU fan as I am, Michigan scares the **** out of me.

As we should.
Finally have a coach that understands what it means to be a Michigan man (Hoke got it, but just couldn't coach) AND how to run a system that can win (Rich Rod could run a good system but couldn't win)
Took Stanford from one of the worst FBS programs in the nation to a top 10 program in 5 years.
Took San Diego from horrid to decent and they fell back to horrid.
Michigan, with Harbaugh, is a machine being built.

You can't be serious...can you?
This benefits the kids. Go to one place and get seen by MANY coaches of many different programs.
This isn't the NFL where we want to hide them so one team can get them in a private workout.

When you're a kid in a backwater town with a so so team these camps mean EVERYTHING for you getting noticed. And not just a FBS school, but any school outside of maybe a local school or two.

Yep. The big thing about this ban wasn't just Harbaugh in Flordia. It was that coaches could only attend camps they hosted on their campus. The MAC, CUSA, AAC, etc... all sent coaches to work these camps. It allowed coaches from schools all over to get a first person look at kids they may have never heard of. Kids absolutely would have been hurt by this rule.
It was put in because he SEC is scared of Harbaugh and Meyer hitting the south harder. It was a poorly thought out rule.

Moved this over to Other Sports since most of the talk seems to be about FBS conferences/teams.
