Alright, what's the Ivy League's excuse for not joining the FCS playoffs again???

I would have preferred an announcement saying we were adding an 11th game in football.

I don't like this idea at all, but fortunately, it's at 4 teams only. I can now live with it though.
However, the Ivy presidents should return to revising football concerns next. xtwocentsx

I'm not a fan of this. I like the regular season champion being rewarded with the auto bid. Plus, when there's be a tie those one off playoff game have been great.

Why would they do this? Why won't someone think if the academic rigors and how this will impact that?

Me too. However, because of the close calls in the playoff games, and in addition to the fact that in recent years, up to 4 Ivy teams had become competitive at once, they finally had the justifications to give the tournament a move-up from the drawing board.

See D-III. All but the UAA hold conference tournaments. But they tend to end rather early... they are the earliest to finish their seasons among the three NCAA Divisions.

Only football impacts academics. Haven't you been paying attention all these years? xconfusedx

Makes no sense to me. I say leave it alone, where the regular season meant something. If not, make it a Bernie Sanders tourney and let all 8 teams in.

Although it was sad for me to let them "join the club", however, it's about time... we'll see what happens in the next few years...
And the UAA isn't going anywhere (in terms of the conference tournament).

The beauty of the internet is that it never forgets. Anytime anyone in the Ivy does something obnoxious from here on, the response will be "You think that was bad? Let's take another look at Yale Santa!"

But you're the only one who thinks that was bad. Everyone normal has had a good laugh. ;)

I'm all for the tournament. It gives the Ivy League a better chance of being a two bid league. It also keeps more teams in contention throughout the regular season which makes more regular seasons games meaningful. They also preserved the importance of the regular season by making the Ivy League Champion determined by the regular season records only. Finally, limiting it to the top four teams also preserves the meaning of the regular season. The only part I disagree with was the elimination of one regular season game. However, as long as it's the annual division III opponent that's eliminated it doesn't matter much.

where the regular season meant something..
Play well in the regular season, you get to go to the Ivy tourney. Play lousy in the regular season, you stay home.
Win the regular season, you're guaranteed no less than the NIT.
The regular season still has meaning.
