The Hockey Championship 2016

Wayzata (first appearance) and Eden Prairie will meet this evening to determine The World Ice Hockey Champion later on in the Class AA title game.

This afternoon Hermantown finally got over the hump after losing 6 straight championship games in Class A, this time emphatically shutting out Breck 5-0 for the Class A championship. http://www.mnhockeyhub.com/news_article/show/620899

Bemidji downed Farmington for the consolation title, and I'm trying to find a stream for the Stillwater v Grand Rapids 3rd place game. After their second straight State Tournament I'm a bit nervous that Stillwater might surpass White Bear as the northeast metro's public school hockey power. :/ On the far shore of White Bear Lake, Mahtomedi didn't make the State Tournament this year after being upset by Totino-Grace in sectionals.

I haven't seen the All Hockey Hair Team analysis up yet. Hope that guy comes through with The Flow again.

I am so happy for Hermantown. I can't think of a team that was more deserving of getting a title. Several years ago they were SCREWED in the finals. Every person who I talked to- who watched it on TV or in person- was furious, even the neutral people. So I'm glad that the monkey is finally off of their back. Or is it mullet off of their back?

Since it is their first time, I'll pull for the Wayzata Trojans. Eden Prairie has had more than enough glory in football.

Wayzata is not the best AA team in the state but they did beat traditional power Edina 4 times this year. Buddy of mine was on the Edina East team in '74 that won state....he went on to BU to play.

Wayzata looked like they were going to give it away with stupid penalties in the 2nd, but just at that moment they got a short handed break-away goal and seemed to be firmly in control for the rest of the game. Waiting to see if they bother to clear the ice and play that last 0.8 seconds

Wayzata wins 5-3 after trailing by two goals in the 2nd. Congrats to the Trojans!

I wasn't too into hockey when I lived there, but some year I really should go to the State Tournament. Such an event. Fun memories of pretty much everyone getting let out of class to watch the first round games on the big TV in the gym. (those of us who weren't skipping school that day, at least)
