Gamecock football posted a 3.04 cumulative GPA during the fall semester. The Gamecock football roster included several standout scholars such as cornerback Jermaine Hough, who posted a 4.0 GPA in his first semester of grad school, and wide receiver Dalton Screws, who was named OVC Scholar Athlete of the Year as well as STATS FCS Scholar Athlete of the Year. Screws has a 3.99 cumulative GPA and majors in Biology and minors in Chemistry.

Well done by those young men. Not easy to balance academics and Division I football.

Curious to know how everyone else's athletic programs compare. Anyone have any info? I'm sure the Ivies set the standard.

Putting it in terms of GPA isn't a good metric for comparison between schools and conferences.

APR isn't perfect, but it's better.

It's truly nice to see JSU has something they can be proud of besides the band. I'm not faulting anyone for getting good grades, they do matter. BTW, Carson Wentz had a 4.0, how did Jenkins do?

Really? WTF does Carson Wentz have to do with JSU's team GPA? Congratulations to the JSU team on their success in the classroom. Since most will not play professional football this is a big step for a successful life.

What a dumbass comment... Who gives a flying s*** what your QB's gpa is compared to another QB. When all else fails do you resort to Wentz??? C'mon man... I'm a huge Wentz supporter, but enough crap. Take it to Bisonville...

Woof, I bet the NCAA is thrilled with that one. All the others are pretty impressive.

Granted this is not GPA, but the NCAA's GSR is also a VERY important criteria for determining the academic success of student-athletes. Samford has recently excelled in this report, ranking #1 in D-1 schools in Alabama and also in the SoCon. Our football team tied with Princeton and Columbia for the top spot in the nation in FCS. I'm very proud of this accomplishment.

I have no idea where the data is that breaks it down and I don't really care, but the facebook page posted this:

https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/12661965_10153959906844532_918980121964281544_n.jp g?oh=7fc5c39726e9b9da4f57fd1f4c2f479f&oe=576EB1EB

Grading isn't really equal across schools though so GPA is a really ****ty metric.

For example at NDSU if I got all 90s that is a 4.0 (A). At my current school 90s are a B+/A- which is a 3.5-3.7 GPA, depending upon the course.

Not even mentioning that what constitutes A work varies by professor within an institution/across institutions.
