The top Division I athletic departments are ranked. According to the Sporting News there are 115 Division I schools.

I was thinking the same thing. The GPA is just the average of the 4 categories they scored.

Iowa State is the seventh best athletic depertment in the nation? Yeah, when I think college athletics that's one of the first schools I think of.
I didn't bother to read how they calculated this but I'm guessing they weighted all sports equally. So having a good equestrian and women's gymnastics teams equals football and basketball.
They have TCU in the WAC.
Souther Cal is a D+ in "Do we win?"
BYU is a B+ in "Do we rock?"
This is a joke right? Is it April Fools Day already?
