Yup, second time in my time following the team that it's happened.

The last time WIU lost a successful coach to an in-conference rival, we then proceeded to go 41-18 over the next 5 years and make the playoffs 3 times. Years 4 and 5 (so...new coach's players and schemes) were the best offenses Western has ever had.

Also, that coach that left, he'd end up coaching for 7 years with only one winning season, going 34-43 overall, and never making the playoffs again: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randy_Ball

Ouch, this hurts a ton. I'm assuming this recruiting class will be in the can as well.

Well I wouldn't be surprised about that at all. That issue won't help us land any quality coaches going forward if the issues looms that large.

This should be a good hire for USD. He did a heck of a job with two national D2 titles at UMD.
