As I posted on another thread, I thought I would start a new one for any of you coming over from SC...

Re: Cocks vs. Bucs: The Quarterfinals

For any Charleston Southern fans traveling into Jacksonville for the game. Below is a link for you... For hotels, your best bet is to stay in Oxford, AL, right on I-20, as the Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, and a few other decent hotels are there. There is a Hampton Inn in Jacksonville, but your team may be staying there. If you stay in Oxford, just head west on Hwy 78 to Hwy 431/21. Go north, thru downtown Anniston, and take the 21N split (stay straight) and head up to JSU. Once you pass the Jville square, Mountain St. will be on your left at Burger King...

Anyway... Struts, Jefferson's, and Cooter Brown's are good places to eat and get good beer. Struts has a great selection of local craft beers in b&c, and a decent draft selection. Mellow Mushroom and all your fast casual chains are all in Oxford, but J'ville's local flare is worth eating at on Friday afternoon then going to the game. As far as parking, there are plenty of houses along Mountain St. (Where the stadium is) in which you can park for $5 - $10 bucks... Enjoy, and welcome to Jacksonville.

Based on this picture I would go with the latter.

Both of them?

:D

given the situation, of CSU's first trip to the round of eight, if at least 800 fans/parents don't make the trip, they're letting down their team.

Both of them?
Good thing they got fixed too, wouldn't want them to reproduce! xlolx

I wouldn't expect a ton of CSU fans to make the trip, as sad as it is.

It's ok. The only team that brings a good crowd with them that we play is Chattanooga, so we're used to it.

Samford and Woffford brought decent crowds a few years ago.
Non playoffs, Tn State, TUNA, AL A&M and Al State bring good crowds.

After being at yesterday's game TSU's crowd seems really underwhelming. I heard UNA brought good crowds but last time JSU played UNA was before I got here.

The atmosphere yesterday was electric. It was fantastic. I want more games to be like that.

I'll be in Jacksonville for this one. I'm looking forward to seeing the Gamecocks pull it out next weekend. I got a few other ASU alums who'll be making the trip as well.

There are lots of teams that have brought big crowds to JSU. EKU has brought a ton of people on more than one occasion. West Alabama had a huge vocal following last year. Sam Houston had a decent, friendly crowd last year.

For those planning to attend, I would recommend buying tickets online ASAP. The Anniston Star is reporting we have already sold 16,000 tickets as of 4:30PM Central. That is 3 times the amount of typical presales. Not sure if that includes the 2,000 student tickets sold so far.

Hey JSU fans how bad will traffic be tomorrow night? I'm coming in from the Atlanta area tomorrow. Any pointers on how to avoid traffic?

There won't be any. Take I-20 to Highway 9. You'll be there in no time.

Avoid Atlanta traffic? Leave at Lunch.
Avoid Anniston traffic? Get off I-20 in Heflin, exit 199.

Note, this route takes you "over the mountain", it's narrow and winding, but better than hitting every red light on Quintard Avenue.

If coming from North or West ATL, go through Cedartown and Piedmont. Work your way to US Hwy 278 then AL 200 (Road where Piedmont High School is located) in Piedmont to AL Hwy 21 on to J'ville.

This. I use the Heflin exit every time. Just make sure you take some Dramamine before heading down Coachaquilla Road.

If you go past that road to the left, and go
to the sign that says "<--- Jacksonville" (also in a construction zone) you will not need Dramamine and will get there faster by going around the top of the hill...

4.5 hours to 5 hours if no ATL traffic jams. If ATL is messed up 2-3 days.

I always just get off at the Oxford exit, go north, and cut through Fort McClellan.

I'm basically here now. We stopped in Oxford to check into the hotel and grab a bite to eat. Traffic wasn't bad at all coming over.

This is the closest to a game thread for this one I could find. JSU fans, why is your logo painted on upside down from where the TV cameras are. I forget if it was like that last week, just seems odd
