ISUr has had two consecutive season not playing NDSU in conference and was the runner up last year. USD is a bad loss no doubt...but they have played in Fargo. This is why conference teams scare me more in the postseason than teams who haven't been here before. It does help making return trips...both Georgia Southern and Coastal Carolina did better the second time around.

Hopefully we get to find out just like UNH a few seasons ago...toss in other first timers like Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, SHSU, JMU...arguably Montana last week...it is a different animal for a QB that is trying to make checks at the line and run an offense.

Comparatively I would say UR is a far different animal than the teams you mentioned above (yes I actually watched those teams/games). Very balanced and can beat you many different ways. Would be a very intriguing match-up, good game IMO.

even thought the CAA is down, Richmond is the best we have and I think they will represent the CAA well in this game, Illinois State just looks a bit out of synch and not as good as they did this time last year (but then again they were playing vs MVFC teams), not predicting any Richmond victories but the RedBirds will get a good game from the Spiders and if not careful will get knocked out at home...

The only way Richmond has a chance here is to get up by 14+ early and make the Birds throw the ball. If this game is within a touchdown either way heading into the 4th quarter, and ISU can run the read/option all game, ISU will do what it always does... pull away late.

I think an appropriate line for this game is in the 9 1/2 range.

No question the Fargo Dome is a daunting place for a new team; however, the 2013 UNH Wildcats entered the playoffs as a 4 loss unseeded team, and the 2013 Bison were the best of all the NDSU Champs. This Richmond Team would be a much tougher match-up for a slightly more beatable NDSU team.

Not surprised by this outcome at all. ISU can be beaten through the air and it was proven again tonight. Richmond did just enough on defense to win which most other teams couldn't do. Also Richmond looked like one of the best coached teams I've seen this year. They will be a tough team to beat for anyone.
