What a day for FCS playoff action. After a great first round, one of the best first days I remember, we have eight more playoff game (plus the SWAC championship game between Grambling and Alcorn State) to enjoy today. All eight playoff games are available on ESPN3. I'll have a bank of computers going again today to keep up with all of the action live. Please feel free to add your comments and let's enjoy this great day together.

I wasn't expecting Richmond to come out so strong against William & Mary, but the Spiders have used two big plays from David Jones on a long punt return and a pick-six to help Richmond to a 21-3 lead midway through the second quarter.

Not really. It just shows the quality of that league outside of its top couple of teams, Appalachian State and Arkansas State. I saw App State beat Georgia State a week after the Panthers lost to Liberty. Outside of having a good QB, the Panthers were awful. If Georgia Southern had any passing attack it would have shredded Georgia State. Trent Miles was looking like he was about to be sent packing after the App State game. AD Charlie Cobb was fuming after that one.

When Appalachian State played there, with nearly 30 players from Georgia on the roster, the Mountaineers were playing in front of more fans. It was like Kidd Brewer Stadium South.

Jay Walker is making note of the McNeese State tailgating. I can say from personal experience that you will find stuff you won't find anywhere else with Cowboy fans. Alligator, elk, venison, all sorts of tasty treats. And I remember the McNeese State press box serving Cajun steak when I was there for the 2002 semifinals between McNeese State and Villanova. High on my list of places to cover a game.

Another good story from the broadcast. Sam Houston State's band missed the first half of last year's quarterfinal game at Villanova, due to bad weather and a delayed flight to Philly. They arrived at the start of the second half and the Bearkats returned the second-half kickoff for 75 yards and a touchdown. I covered that game and it was a good one, with Villanova missing a long field goal as time expired.
