I want to try something here today and make use of the full board for this as a test. This is run exactly like the GOTW threads. Consider these names already nominated and seconded.

Now you may nominate a person not on this list to have them added. If you nominate someone though you need to provide their season stat line just as it is here.

smallcollegeFBfan has a thread with more names in case that helps make it easier to find a stat line, he may have it up already so you cna grab the information there.

Juat going to try this for today. If you want to chime in and be heard then do it now. You can and should also second the names already on here if you like the pick cuz this usually tells who moves on so treat it as any other nominations thread.

I second Jabari Butler. One of the few bright spots on an otherwise dismal ACU defense. Butler has track speed and played for Bishop Gorman out in Las Vegas, the number one high school team in the country last year.

I'll second John Santiago. He put up those numbers even though he was pretty much NoDak's only offensive weapon.

True, he did it in spite of being heavily keyed on all the time. Dude is good.

I also second Santiago.

I second Bragalone. What a great find. People discounted him because he came from a small Single A high school program, but he has shown great versatility in running and receiving. Plus he's a "tough" runner. This kid, if he stays healthy, could become Lehigh's all-time rusher.

I second Santiago.

Would like to point out that in addition to his rushing/receiving stats, he had 1 punt return for 38 yards and 21 kick returns for an average of 27.7 yards.

Ursus, are we also going to have a newcomer of the year award?

That would be interesting but I think freshman count as newcomers as well and I'm not sure anyone beats out Cookus. The Tenn St DE who came from Clemson had a great year but nobody did what Cookus did. He likely wins this, and he should.

I thought of Sandland, while not a freshman, had a nice year as a newcomer

Ogundeko, Sandland, Cookus, Santiago, and Aaron Bailey of UNI all come to mind as top level candidates for that type of award.

Not sure as of yet, it does have a lot of crossover in the category with Freshman but some good names outside of it.

If I had to pick 10 names for Newcomer of the Year here are 10 I came up with off the top of my head.

QB Case Cookus, NAU
RB John Santiago, UND
TE Beau Sandland, Montana State
CB Jabari Butler, Abilene Christian
LB Myke Tavarres, Incarnate Word
QB Aaron Bailey, UNI
DE Andrew Van Ginkel, South Dakota
DB Leroy Alexander, Youngstown State
DE Noah Spence, Eastern Kentucky
DE Ebenezer Ogundeko, Tennessee State

My top 3 would be Spence, Cookus, and Tavarres.
