My biggest complaint for NDSU is no DL Brian Schaetz, not even as honorable mention. He should be there over Tanguay IMO and likely over more on there than just him.

Umm, you should look at LeCompte's numbers. He should be 1st team All-American.

48 punts, 46.1 yard average, 20 punts downed inside the 20, long of 73.

In conference only games UNI is 30 yards better, and 1.6 ypc better against the run.

I think we had some players that would be all conference on other teams but I cant argue with the production as it was. Connor Underwood probably missed it at DE the same way Carson Wentz did. Iannotti on his team should be the only QB.

Interesting how much easier it was to crack the list at RB this year. These are the numbers from the 2nd team RBs this year:

King Frazier: 147 attempts, 790 yards (5.4 ypc), 7 TDs
Jody Webb: 122 attempts, 857 yards (7.0 ypc), 9 TDs

Now the 2nd team RBs from last year (they had Zach Zenner, David Johnson, and Coprich all 1st team RBs last year):

John Crockett (includes 4 playoff games): 368 attempts, 1994 yards (5.4 ypc), 21 TDs
Martin Ruiz: 265 attempts, 1320 yards (5.0 ypc), 10 TDs

We'll get 'em next year. No Iannotti or Roberson, no Coprich for ISU's new QB to hand off to. Bailey, Stick, and Norvell should be in the running for first team QB next year.
Norvell, Lenoir, and Borsellino will be in year 4 of starting together.

Best WR/QB combo in the league.

I thought it was this year.

I thought WIU had the best skill positions, period, this year in the conference. Just not a defense or OL to compliment them enough

Next year is going to be interesting. Offensively, losing RB Watson, our RG, and a couple of TE's (that we almost never used...2 catches all season total for our TEs...they mostly did blocking).
Defensively...losing our D-line...3/4 of the starters, and a couple of backup DBs. Gonna need to find some D-line otherwise our games will turn into track meets...first one to 50 points wins.

Spot on. The defense was young in several spots at LB/CB, however most of the DL graduates which will leave some holes. The OL is still spotty at times. I really think with Watson leaving this will present a huge issue for the Necks at RB. Moore is the next big back, but he is only around 6'0" 220 lbs, I say only because Nikki was 250+. I don't believe he is the same type of back.

I can't complain (much) about the team overall. There always can be some debate on 1st vs 2nd team, vs honorable mention, but didn't seem like there were any glaring mistakes.

Few thoughts:

If they are going to add an extra spot, why would they do it for QB instead of WR? I'm not a Roberson hater, but it was pretty clear cut that Iannotti was the best QB in the league, where at WR, Lance Lenoir and Anthony Warrum were neck and neck for the #2 spot behind Wieneke. Wide Receiver was last years running back position, and the top 4 guys are going to be back next year as well.

Also, I'd like to see them have DE and DT spots rather than just a broad DL position. A DE of equal skill (or slightly worse) is almost always going to have better stats than a DT, and that's why we ended up with 4 DEs on the 1st team. DT is just as important of a position as DE, so why not treat it like so?

...and the LeCompte vs. Kuhter debate: There isn't one. LeCompte is the man and he's the most underrated weapon in the conference IMO. He should have a farewell parade that goes through Brookings so every Jackrabbit fan can thank him for getting the hell out of college football.

I'm not sure why they add extra spots but my theory is that if there's a tie (or it's very close between two players) they'll add an extra spot. For instance last year they had three 1st team RBs (Zenner, Johnson, and Coprich). Of course the debate then goes to how did Roberson get anywhere near Iannotti if that's the case? I don't have an answer for that other than voter laziness.

Roberson shouldn't even be near first team.

He should be behind Iannotti, Norvel, Wentz, Stick, Bailey, and both SDSU QBs.

I'm not convinced Roberson isn't last in the MVFC qb race this year, other than MSU.

You're probably right, but it seems odd that it could end in a tie as often as it has. Maybe it's something like: If the votes are within a certain % of each other they both get first team.

Last year it made sense for the RB position considering as there were 4 MVFC running backs who were all up for All American status and it was nearly impossible to discern between the top 3.

I agree that Roberson isn't a very good passing quarterback but he is deadly running the read option. It is the same problem as a few years ago when Georgia Southern had McKinnon and should he make an All American team. Do you list an athlete spot and put Roberson there?

This, apparently, is a first team QB stat line
84-175 (48.0%) 1,733 yards (157 per game) 15 TD 6 INT

Brion Carnes is a first team QB too, apparently, if that's the standard

Roberson should not have made 1st team. I would agree with that.

Iannotti, either SDSU QB, by the volume of work you could make a case for either NDSU QB if Roberson was 1st team.

Sucks, but it would seem that the voters got caught up in name and conference finish rather than watching the results on the field.

You can thank whatever the MVFC policy is that kept NDSU's QBs off of their leaderboard for that. Either would've led the conference in pass efficiency had they been eligible. They must cap it at games played or something because Wentz actually had more pass attempts on the season than Roberson yet wasn't even included in the full season stats leaderboard. Stick played 5 of 8 conference games and had nearly 100 pass attempts in conference games yet wasn't included.

It basically uses 4 primary components; completion percentage, yards per attempt, TDs per attempt, and INTs per attempt. Completion percentage for Roberson was not good but all 3 of the other metrics were quite good.

The bigger loss might be OC/ QB coach Nick Hill--super recruiter and you saw what he did with the offense. May be too young to be HCoach candidate--though many want him--I see him getting scooped up by Minnesota as QB coach there
