I missed on this one. I thought EIU could keep it closer. It could easily have been, but UNI executed well. I got Montana over SDSU, but missed badly on this one. Congrats to the MVFC fans. The final margin will be close enough to 40 that crow is now eaten. EIU couldn't have beaten Dayton the way they played today.

I don't know about the Dayton thing. I felt like with WIU (and would feel like if eiu played dayton) that over the course of the game they would pull away from dayton. Just keep pounding and they will run out of gas.

Dayton came to play today but I don't think they would have beaten EIU. But you never know.

if a ballcarrier attempts a hurdle like that, could they be considered a "defenseless player" and draw a flag if a defender hits them hard (or worse, get tossed for "targeting")?

I don't think that should apply. I mean, going up to catch a pass is one thing, but hurdling is something different altogether. If the defender deliberately aims for the head, sure, call targeting. Or if they use unnecessary force (like if Farley had launched him into the concrete wall, or caught him and attempted some pro-wrestling style slam), then sure, call unnecessary roughness. But when someone hurdles like that, it doesn't take much of a hit to cause them to cartwheel over and land on their head or something, and I don't think that should draw a flag.

Dorleant got his knees/ankles and put him into the spin, which drove him up further. He had some pretty good height on the jump though as Dorleant didn't really bend that far for the hit

Yes in the NFL. I recall 6-7 or 6-8 Harold Carmichael of the Phila. Eagles hurdling a Minn. Viking in a 1974 game and getting a penalty. I was 12!
