Here is my final list. I know we have talked about doing this and I think it would be fun. We could put together a ballot for an All-America team as well. I tried to simply go by who the best players were this year. I almost put Carson Wentz on here but felt he missed too many games. Vad Lee made it by just 2 games.

Yeah, I think it would be a fun idea. Would it make sense to institute a "homer rule" meaning that you can't vote for a player from your team? Or, if not, maybe there's a way to vote for your top 3 and give out points accordingly for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd on your ballot so even if someone votes for their own player they have to give credit to other players.

I'm afraid that most contributors to this site would have issues staying objective for a vote like this. That's not a rip, I understand the passion. What could it hurt though? I would vote

I think the player of the year votes are a good idea, but I don't think most of us have seen enough of all the players on an All American candidates list to objectively pick an entire team. Also if you do the POY list you should have a preliminary vote to narrow the list of nominees down to 5 or 6 candidates before having a final vote.

What happened to Miles Killebrew from SUU? You were really big on him pre-season and he's not on your Defensive POY list of candidates?

Still very big on him. He will get drafted and he is a worthy All-American at S. I just don't think he would get votes because of his lack of passes defended. I also have Cowser on there and I tried to only put one player per team. The one exception is UNI where you have to have Hall on a list like this but they have a DL who is in the top 2 in just about every stat possible for a DL in the MVFC. I felt I had to include both there. If Killebrew had 4-5 INTs and another 5+ PBUs then he would have been included.

I like the idea of doing a vote to get it down to 5 candidates and then vote based on that 5. Also, picking the top 3 in the first round of voting would be a smart idea.

I like the idea of voting for a top three, or five, and deciding the winner based on a point system.

Sad to see Woodrum and Ross didn't make the list...and really there was one from Liberty who I think would have been a worthy FPoY finalist as well.

Id love to do a PoY vote on here though

Liberty has a lot of talent. They underachieved more than anyone else in FCS this year. They should have been a top 15 team but were far from it.

How is the best way to get a vote going? And is there anyone missing who opponents of that player would argue for? Meaning if there is a player missing from NDSU is there anyone in the MVFC who thinks they got shafted or someone from a SoCon opponent of UTC who thinks they have a player snubbed? Or perhaps a Montana fan who thinks a Montana State player got snubbed? Looking for non homers to argue for one of their rivals.

I'd make a Google form and post a thread for it. I know the gas all American vote probably will be at some point as well

I already have the form/sheet done from the initial AA vote. Easy to get it going if you pm me SCFF and we run a couple things down as far as what we are achieving and put the timeline together.

One other thing. I'd like to have a paragraph or more for each of the final 5 for each award though to put forth their stats and so forth.

We will probably need some volunteers willing to put together the stats and a short descriptive bit of info. for their guys(s). We need to be able to compare by category or player depending on what we are doing.

I can help out. Just send me a name or 3 from the finalist groups and I can put together a paragraph on them.

Will Ratelle should be on the Def POY list judging be the stats alone.

Seems to me the list is already too big. Does Ratelle have a real shot at Defensive POY? Probably not. Does he deserve to be named with most of those other guys? Yeah, he should probably be ahead of several of them.

.... I'm having the weirdest case of deja vu right now. ;)

Do we want to have a preliminary vote, then choose the award winners from a second vote of just the finalists?

We're going to need a task force to decide who's on the committee, first. (purple)

I did a list as big as what STATS did. I would say to vote we should trim it down to 5-8 and then vote for sure.

So the SoCon Defensive POTY and a Freshman CB who is going to be an All American don't make the list? You missed both of those on the same team.

My vote for Freshman player of the year has to go to Santiago, RB for North Dakota. Hell of a Freshman year for a guy originally drafted to be a WR, he is going to be making some noise for the next three years in the Big Sky and the playoffs...asuming they dont get screwed out of it again.

Well there are more than 10 conferences so it is impossible to put everyone. If a CB has less than 7 or 8 picks he has no shot he has no shot at getting the votes needed.

As for Jeter, same thing but STATS did not even put him in their top 20-25. I just don't see him getting enough votes from those here at AGS. I tried to pick the top 10 who I believed had the best shot to get votes on here. All of them made my top 20, which they did not from STATS.

I don't care what Coprich did between the sidelines this season after what he did this spring. He should've been suspended.
