And take Chris Webber with him!
The Sixers will suck badly enough this year. They don't need any more distractions. TRADE "THE ANSWER" NOW!!!
I don't think the 9-73 futility record is in jeopardy, though.:o

They tried to send him to the Charlotte Bobcats, but Iverson balked on that, right after he'd said he would go anywhere. What a hippocrit!

Whatever team gets him won't be a winner once they do.
I've never seen an athlete with as much heart and as little character as Iverson.

Kevin Garnett is interested, so that means the Timberwolves are interested. :)
In the printed St Paul paper today, 4 possible scenario's were presented. Including 3 that included Randy Foye going to Philly.

Why would anyone want an aging... overpaid... 6' shooting guard... who plays no defense and takes more shots than the paparazzi...???

You cant blame the man for wanting to go somewhere else. He's been the 6'ers whole franchise with practically no help since he's been there.

MIxed feelings about Iverson. I've never seen anyone in the NBA play so hard and 'lay it all out there' during a game. Yet, he does some of the dumbest things, and displays a poor attitude. Product of being catered to for so long, which is typical of the primadonna athletes of today.

I really really really want a reason to start following the Sixers again, but as long as A.I. has been there, I just can't. I thought he was a douche-bag at G'town, and he's done little to change my impression since then.
I won't deny he's one of the top players in the league. However, he's one of the worst team players too. When he's not being a show-boating ball-hog, Philly is capable of winning. The run to the finals in '01 was partly due to the Sixers surrounding him with a low-key supporting cast (so as not to step on his ego), and Iverson actually playing team basketball more often than not.
After A.I. is gone, tar and feather Billy King and run him out of town. I might start watching them again after that.

Iverson would have been a draw for the Bobcats who have had miserable attendance. Plus they had room under the salary cap to accomodate him. After he turned them down, GM Bernie Bickerstaff tried to spin it that they didn't want to mortgage their future for Iverson.

Same for Garnett in Minnesota. Pair them up and let's see what happens.

The low-key supporting cast also played good defense. George Lynch was one of the best defenders in the NBA at the time.
Since then, the Sixers have tried to pair Allen with other scorers, like Glenn Robinson and Chris Webber; and it hasn't worked.
I think for Allen's style to work he has to be surrounded by good defenders.

I'd trade Damon Jones or Sasha Pavlovic for him, thing is he'd never play second fiddle to LeBoogie....

Count your blessings.
Iverson would be a draw the first year. Then, when the selfish on/off court bullsh** starts, the misses clang...and clang...and clang, the team is reduced to standing around watching Iverson "do his thing", and the losses mount, your team - -and fan support - would go down the toilet fast.
Iverson is a cancer. He has blamed everything on the coach(es), his teammates, the GM, and the fans. There is no sign of him ever looking inward and learning how to be a good team player or teammate. :nonono2:

A.I. not going to Charlotte because he nixed the deal makes no sense at all for 2 reasons:
1- He doesn't have a no-trade clause, Kobe Bryant is the only guy in the NBA who is reported to have a no-trade clause. It's in the CBA that you have to actually become a free agent to even get it & most NBA players re-sign for big bucks before they actually become FA's.
2- Not only doesn't he have a no-trade clause but the NBA changed the rules in '04 saying that if a player refuses to report to a new team after a trade he gets fined heavily.

Thank you.:hurray:
The Sixers mgnt has not been shat since Crochie? left and they wasn't shat before him.
Sorry bout the spelling of his name.
They did the same when Barkley was there.
Didn't get him no help.
Just used him to fill the arena.
Just watch..................When the Sixers still ain't worth crap after AI is gone, then it's going to be Cheeks fault.
5 years from now, it will be someone elses fault.
The man has played for Philli for 11 years.
If that is not enough loyalty for a bunch of ungrateful do nothings, then so be it.
Him and KG should have left those stuck in nowhere franchises a long time ago.:twocents:

The better theory I've read is that Iverson probably freaked out, and Charlotte backed out of the deal for fear he'd be a lockeroom cancer and maybe even pull a "Vince Carter a la Toronto" if they were to acquire him.

Exactly. You beat me to it.
