The jump allowed them a new deal with Russell Athletic that guarantees them new uniforms for every sport every two years...they basically don't have to pay for them due to their exclusive deal with Russell. They have new uniforms for just about everything this year.

They are using the silver helmets on a trial basis during the two-year transition. They'll decide whether or not to keep them at that point.

The last time we wore white on white was the @ Western game in 04 (when we had our old unis with the big APPALACHIAN letters across the front)....a game many of us App fans like to forget.

I think Delaware State has a similar type of uni, don't know how often they wear it.

Between Wake Forest, Vandy and Purdue, there aren't a whole lot of options for black and gold that haven't already been done.


White on white might be your best bet.

Supposedly we're getting away from the UCLA/LSU shoulder stripe and will have a more plain look with some piping. Again don't know for sure. I just hope we don't go crazy with an odd looking numbering and weird striping. The simpler the better for me.

Only the third time we've worn those white on whites (@ Elon and @ Furman last year). Bit surprised we went to that. Last time we wore the white tops and black pants was at Wofford last year.

And I will say the white on whites are growing on me.

Also, interesting that so far, we haven't worn the same uni twice. We wore the black on blacks at LSU.

A lot of FCS unis look similar to FBS & pro teams.

Last year when I was at the Purdue-Iowa game, the unis they were wearing felt like a Steelers-Saints game. Those teams colors are identical.

We've done the black tops and white pants once before in 2004 for a home gams vs Texas State. xanim_chaix xflamemadx Never again.

I think we might go white tops/black pants next week at GaSo due to their home unis (blue tops/white pants). Unless they really decide to get into the "Blue Out" spirit and wear blue pants as well, then we might go with white pants.

The UA threads SIU are wearing this year are easily the best threads they're wearing ever. I like Richmond's away uni's more than their home ones. Just not a fan of the all blue/green/black/red/whatevery color look. Add white pants to their home uni's and they would be very sweet.

I have a question for Southern Illinois fans. How come the football team is UA, but your basketball team is Nike? Most teams have one company for all of their teams like UNI has Nike for every sport and teams like Texas Tech have UA for all of their teams. I didn't know you could be sponsored by two different companies like that...

Who knows, maybe they are still fulfilling contracts through respective companies or something. In the past few years I've seen UA, Nike, Adidas, and Rawlings on SIU uniforms. But I think all the teams will be in UA in a year or two.

It's tradition for tradition's sake gone wrong. To the fullest extent.

Everybody wore gray, white, Lucite or Plexiglas facemasks at one time, depending on the helmet maker. There was no choice. I kinda like the gray, myself. Very old-school.

Agreed. I've never been a fan of dark pants without some sort of striping. Not sure what it is, but i just think it looks cheap. For some reason, gold and silver pants look ok without stripes.

I will have to agree with Laces on this one. I think they're pretty sharp. Maryland easily has the most combos available since they have four colors. Didn't they used to wear yellow for football?
