It amazes me how those small OL from ASU manage to dominate every team they play.

Size means crap...

GSU's team has proved that over and over again. Now ASU's teams are proving it over and over again.

Well that was exciting. I just got back from the game. Rushing the field was a rush. xlolx I patted Armanti on the back as I ran by. He played great. I hope Richardson turns out okay. Kudos to Youngstown for not giving up. I wanted to go up to the YSU fans and thank them for coming, but didn't for fear of sounding like an jackass. Really though, they represented their school very well.

I would have said the MVP should go to the App special teams. All except for that fumble on the punt, they were great. Those huge defensive stands in ASU territory in the 2nd half were a killer for YSU.

Congrats to the penguins for a great season, and I hope to watch you play some other time as well. Everyone, get home safe.

Well that was exciting. I just got back from the game. Rushing the field was a rush.

I was on my way home listening to the YSU post game on the radio. The Ytown sideline guy was trying to get to YSU's coach for some post game comments and said an ASU fan had pushed Heacock and they (fan & coach) were staring each other down a bit then Heacock went on to find Moore. The sideline reporter said the ASU fan went out of his way to purposely push Heacock.

Not trying to stir trouble or taint ASU's win in anyway & I know it can get crazy after a game when fans rush the field. Just curious if any ASU fans on the field saw anything?

I'm just repeating what I heard on the radio

Just got back. Great game.

I thought the Penguin fans were great. My sister loved the Penguin mascot. :rotateh:

I even enjoyed hearing the YSU band playing. Good stuff all around.

I didn't see a thing, but I was over that way. It's unfortunate that that happened. You'll always get those fans that say stuff like "I hate Youngstown" and such when they know absolutely nothing about them. Those are also the fans that go push other people. And I hope nobody got hurt in that celebration either.

Yeah we have some dumb people...like the ones who tore down the goalpost even though we've been to Chatty before...gg.

On another note...

I was extremely impressed with Mason. We haven't had anyone run on us like he did and your coaches did a good job of keeping our defense off balance with the play action. I think if you had a little better defense to go along with your offense this game would've been a LOT closer. That is an obvious statement...but I just wanted to say that I was very, very impressed with Mason.

Also, it was quite refreshing to have fans and a team in Boone who understand how to be at least semi-classy. Especially after last week...no names, but you know who I'm talking about. It was a great game...I wish your team the best of luck next season!

What's even better is that Armanti made the record books!!

ASU quarterback Armanti Edwards became just the second freshman and fifth player overall in NCAA Division I history with 2,000 (2,105) passing yards and 1,000 (1,072) rushing yards in a season. The others are:
-David Dinkins (Morehead State – 1999)
-Woodrow Dantzler (Clemson – 2001)
-Brad Smith (Missouri – 2002) * only other freshman
-Vince Young (Texas – 2005)

I saw a sign that said something about Mountaineers bitch slapping Penguins during one of the crowd close-ups on the telecast. I LOL'd. It was both factual and funny.

Good luck next week, not that I think you'll need it.

Congrats to APP State, best of luck next week. Hats off to YSU for a great season. Was fun posting up on this thread for the first half. Had unexpected company so I had to sit out the second half. Hope next weeks game is a future classic!

Solid win, but youngstown played well.

Some dumbasses f'd up some cars on the way out with the goalpost, and some people turn some signs down trying to move the post, grrr.

That said at least one survived :P

Just got done watching the game (dvr) and just made my way through pages 44 to this one in this thread.

1) ASU was the better team, very impressed:thumbsup:
2) After watching the two semi-final games, there's no doubt it my mind the two best teams are going to be playing each other.
3) Very polite postings in this thread compared to Montana/UMass thread yesterday. I wonder what it would have been like if Montana was whooped up on like ASU did to YSU tonight, what the postings would have looked like.
4) With the players that ASU has coming back, they have the makings of a nice 5 year run (including last year).
Best of luck to both teams in Chatty - I can't wait to see these two teams battle it out.

Personally, after watching that whole game, nobody has a chance against appy state. YSU is by no means as bad as they looked, and they just got completely dominated today. Appy state by at least 20, mark it down. Sorry to all the UMASS fans, this is nothing against you or your team. Appy State is just too good.

Losers tend to root for the team that beat them in an effort to justify to themselve that their own team were not that bad.
I've got news YSU, you are that bad

UMASS will win.

wow, after this whole thread has been SO classy, you throw in stuff like that? geeze, lol

Anyways, THANK YOU YSU for bringing so many fans and for being such a great opponent. Best of luck in the future, and congrats on a stellar season.

and about the cars thing.....that was purely accident from what I saw, the mob got kinda misguided and ended up in the parking lot - it was bad and I feel ashamed that they could be so stupid

i was one of the people helping tear down the goalpost...it was goin down either way so i wanted to end my last home game of my senior year when we're goin to the national championship with a bang it was fun...it wasn't about rubbin it in people's faces or bein stupid for the camera...it was just pure celebration of goin to another championship which doesn't happen all the time...people seem to forget that since we won so recently

anyways little did i know that where the goalpost goes into the ground there is a hole with a buncha cold water in it and the second the goalpost snapped my foot went straight into it...afterwards i went straight in line to get our national championship tickets and then went straight home to book the hotel

first of all, although its been said many times before, youngstown state is very classy bunch, and i hope to see them again this time next year. sorry for the fans that showed you all disrespect, its not a true representation. and i, as an appalachian student, and die-hard fan since the age of 10, appreciate the respect that all people have given MY team. lets hope that the O and D continue to produce next week, and we bring another national championship to the high country....so we can join the select group of georgia southern, and our last opponent YSU to repeat as national champions....no matter what the time period, those two teams deserve a large amount of respect for all that they have done for division 1-aa football, or FCS as it is known today.

Congrats to App, just got back from the game, I wish we could have at least made it entertaining but it just wasn't meant to be. I dunno about the rest of the Penguin faithful that showed up but I encountered some classy Appalachian fans, and I'll definitely be rooting for em to go for two this weekend.

Congrats to App State. The far better team clearly won. The outcome was disappointing but not entirely shocking. YSU got a long way on effort and coaching but our D was not our strong point this year, and that fact was exploited by a superior offense. After watching both games over the weekend I may lean toward App in the final, but UMass has a better D than YSU and a well balanced offense, and Blaylark is a LOAD! I'll watch the game and hope for a thriller and may the best team win.

Did anyone else think Gottfreid sounded wasted? Did he have a stroke or was his face frozen or something? I admit I had the sound turned down most of the game in favor of the local radio coverage, who had a great deal of praise for App State.

And I hope your running back is OK.

UMass has speed, and is very good in the trenches, where title games are often decided.

No offense, but this will be the third week in a row we've heard that line. Until someone steps up and actually proves it, I'm not buying it. UMass is a good team but if ASU plays like they did last night we'll have our repeat for sure.
