Maurer's service to the Lafayette community extends beyond his performance on the football field, where he led the Leopards to the Patriot League championship in each of his three seasons as a starter. He is a three-time member of the Academic All-District II team, a Lafayette Marquis Scholar and EXCEL Scholar, and a member of the Dean's List.

A Neuroscience major and Spanish minor with a 3.55 grade-point average, Maurer has performed EXCEL research in both of his disciplines, studying zebra finches in his Neuroscience work and examining Latin American music and culture for his research in Spanish.

"Brad has remained a model of humility throughout his career, beginning with how he handled our quarterback situation in his first two years as the starter. That shows the kind of character that Brad has and what kind of person he is," head coach Frank Tavani said. "He has taken his role as a spokesman for our program seriously, he's gracious in both victory and defeat, and goes out of his way to deflect his achievements back to the team. Brad's legacy as a student-athlete at Lafayette is enormous and his drive to succeed has been unparalleled."
