EWU is 4?
And we moved up, LOL! Hope they know something I don't. Our supposedly prolific offense if now 6th in conference in scoring, and five of our wins have come by a combined total of 12 points. We only beat one team handily (a 17 point win over 2-6 Idaho State). The teams we've beaten are a combined 16-31, and we have not beaten anyone with a winning record. We have played the 7th through 12 place teams in the league, barely squeaking out wins against most of them. We are coming up against the 3rd through 5th place teams (We avoid tied for first SUU this year). Unless something changes dramatically, this is a team that may not even make the playoffs, and will most certainly do very little if we make it there. To win in the playoffs, you have to be a complete team, and that is something EWU is not this year.

On the bright side- You're still winning therefore you developed some kind of defense. From junior high level the last few years to a winning one a year later is a drastic improvement.

No kidding!
Here is a few that jumped out to me.
Coastal Carolina at 8 and Charleston Southern at 15...maybe CCU won afterall?
Portland State and McNeese State behind Coastal Carolina?
Fordham ahead of UNI?
If you are going to rank THE Citadel at least get the name right.

Although I don't think Coastal should be above Chuck South, in my own poll, I didn't have them ranked #2. Coastal lost on the road to another ranked team. How can you just flip flop the teams and ignore their seasons to this point?
Most people aren't going to jump a team ten or more spots based on one win at this point in the season. Most people are not going to drop a team ten or more spots based on one loss at this point in the season. Their movement in this poll was completely reasonable; and it's also consistent.

I had grown increasingly hesitant on CCU and increasingly impressed by CSU. I had CCU around 8 and CSU in the Top 20. It wasn't hard to move them around. CSU proved what I had suspected about CCU.

As did I. They were on a downward spiral and I expected CSU to defeat them. Chuck South got a significant bounce for this win and the win at the Citadel. But I couldn't 'over-penalize' Coastal for this loss. Coastal still has good wins at Furman and against Western Illinois. So to drop them from the 6-8 range to around 13 wasn't that bad. If I'd had Coastal at #2 it would have have been difficult to justify dropping them 10-12 spots. Nobody did that to North Dakota State when they lost at home to an unranked South Dakota team.

This is where the subjectivity comes in. CSU didn't beat the second best team in the country, they beat a team that was ranked #2.... the outcome of the game proves they shouldn't have been #2....unless they were beat by the BEST team in the country. That said, when it is all hashed out, both teams have similar records, and (since they play in the same conference) against similar opponents.... so, CSU should be ahead of CCU. If they were 3-6 and snuck up on them, maybe there would be an excuse....but nope, CSU is good and deserves to be ranked ahead of CCU.

The outcome of the game is just the outcome of the game. We're late in the season. I'm not advocating for CCU to be ahead of CSU; I'm saying you can' t throw out their other victories just because CSU defeated them in Charleston. What happens if CSU loses next week? When they drop, does this mean you drop Coastal too; even if Coastal wins in a blowout? H-2-H matters, but you have to balance against performance. Like I explained, I didn't have Coastal at #2, so dropping them below CSU wasn't a problem; but I also didn't have Chuck South as #20. If both win next week, then Charleston will pick up more steam. If they both finish the season at 10-1, I guarantee Charleston will be ahead of Coastal.

Yeah I saw what you guys did there. Very cute. I really hope they do win out. And Charleston Southern would be a hands down #1 without a doubt, but I fear if that were to happen, the laws of physics would also cease to function and the Universe as we know it would implode into nothingness.
