Sad news about the death of one of the great NFL coaches. Won Super Bowl IV with the KC Chiefs, and his players were fiercely loyal to him. Had a great later career as an NFL TV commentator whose analysis was always accurate and concise. Always impeccably dressed on the sidelines! A class act.

Yeah, I was saddened too, I have seen old NFL films of him on the sidelines and he was quite a character, as well as being a snappy dresser.

Sad day, but Diabetes is a horrible burden and at least now he is free of it and in a better place. It was always fun watching his KC teams - they were well-coached and innovative. The NFL Films Super Bowl IV video, when he was miked, is priceless!

Hank Stram was one of the most innovative coaches of his era and one of the major reasons for the wide-open attacks that brought the AFL to prominance. When I took my first job as a young sports writer in Central California in the early 1980s, I was without a television for awhile. I would listen to the Monday Night games on radio and absolutely loved Hank Stram's analysis of the games. He was one of the best as a coach and a broadcaster and will be missed. At least we have all of those NFL films moments to remember him by.

I loved it on NFL films (narrated by the legendary John Facenda) how he told the Chiefs to " Matriculate down the field" during the '70 Super Bowl.
