blue dominated the first half except for some bad field position early. We will see if red comes out on fire, but I'm not sure they can stop the passing game. I expect Roberson to get some big runs in the second half.

ISUMattwhat they could have done is take a look at Coprich's torso and recognize that it isn't 6' long and know he couldn't reach from there

They do do call it a game of inches for a reason!
Trees OFF in the second half didn't match the aggressiveness of the first half.

It's so damn hard to win games in this league every week. It wasn't pretty, but I'll take it.
Hell of an effort from the Sycamores, especially in the opening half.

I was wrong about the score, but not about Indiana State. They have a real good team over there and have nothing to be ashamed of. Once Illinois State decided to dig in defensively, and they were able to turn the momentum of the game late in the 3rd, it was only a matter of time before they pulled it out.
Conditions were brutal for both teams. I think Indiana State played too tentative in the 2nd half, but not so much that it affected the outcome.
Good game Sycamores, was a fun one to watch!

Yeah, but there were plenty of drops both ways. Lots of little errors that I don't usually see the Redbirds make, which made it a weird game. Take nothing away from the Sycamores, some of those errors were forced by Indiana State.
Yes, those drops hurt, but I can point to many 3rd down plays that were uncharacteristically not made by our team when we were unchecked as well. The 4 and out in the 1st quarter that setup the safety was brutal. Coprich had the endzone in front of him, but instead of diving in he decided to try and head in straight up and got blindsided pushing him back. Little things like that. Once we realized we couldn't take this game for granted, I think we picked up the play.
Lots of respect for your squad though, and a slippery field helps a passing team if the quarterback has a good grip... which he obviously did. Indiana State did everything but win this one, but championship level teams find ways to win these games... which the Birds did.
Next week, another top 25. That's life in the Valley...

I meant that in response to being too tentative. I think we took our shots and played our game but failed to execute. Those are catches we normally make.
I thought when they decided to get coprich moving down hill instead of allowing us to move to the ball while he was still in the backfield was when it was going to be over.
Plus our punting game looked like a piece of crap in a swimming pool. Thats our only good special team and we crapped all over it

I thought when the Sycamores only scored 3 points in the 3rd that was where momentum changed.
End of the 3rd, Warrum with two big catches and suddenly that blitz from anywhere Sycamore DEF wasnt as aggressive. On the Coprich TD you guys brought up a corner and the play went to the opposite side, once Coprich hit the second level TD.
After that you guys blitzed less and played more based DEf and Illinois State went strictly ground game. Two pass plays shouldn't have changed the aggressiveness of your DEF.
That and it seemed you guys abandoned the run except the wildcat and QB keeper.
