Here is this week's update. It appears as though a few players are running away from the pack and are about to cement themselves as a top 5 finisher with just one more week like the last two for players such as Kade Harrington, Noah Spence, and Cooper Kupp to name a few.

The buzz on the street is that Cooper Kupp and Noah Spence have been interviewing agents and are indeed out the door at the end of the season to enter the NFL Draft. Spence is a top 100 pick but will Kupp be one? There are apparently some agents out west who have their claws in the EWU program and will coax them into entering the draft early if they think the player could be a top 150 pick.

Yes I agree. I wonder why the EWU coaching staff has not decided to force all agents to go through the compliance office and ban them from talking directly to the kids? Lots of schools are going to this so they can figure out who the good agents are.

Based on talent I want to keep him on but yeah you have to get numbers. I really think JSU has 3 legit guys on offense but only one has the numbers and even then Jenkins is not killing it. I left him on because JSU deserves to have someone. I like Pope. He played well in the FBS game. He gets yards when he gets the ball consistently.

I thought a couple of our defensive players would have been on that list but I looked at their stats and as a team the tackles go 47, 45, 40, 29, 28, 28 etc. Sounds like a team effort this year!

Jenkins did play most of the second quarter this week. After last year when injuries killed our playoff chances, our coach is taking starters out before games are even settled. UTM game he had to put the starters back end after the third team game up too many late TDs.

I agree. Edmonds is absurd. He's the most dynamic running back I've seen at this level since Brian Westbrook.

Would have also accepted David Johnson, Zach Zenner, or any other of the numerous backs out of the MVFC...Some guy named Flanders from SHSU was pretty good too...also this guy Johnson at SFA... xlolx

Honestly, I think you could go with Henderson or Edmonds. Either one would be good for the 5th spot. I really like Edmonds.

This is a clouded field because I think 5-6 players are still in the race.

I'll drop Wentz from my list for sure in the next week or two. How bad is Lee's injury? I'll never remove him because he played longer and has enough numbers to be worthy of mention but I do think Wentz can come off soon.

His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, run between the tackles and destroy defenders in space is amazing. The only thing he hasn't shown is a return game because he's not used.

He won the Jerry Rice award as the nations top frosh last year. He's even more polished as a sophomore...

Jenkins did play most of the second quarter this week. After last year when injuries killed our playoff chances, our coach is taking starters out before games are even settled. UTM game he had to put the starters back end after the third team game up too many late TDs.

That is what people criticizing JSU for its game with UTM don't realize. Yes, it was a 1 TD final... with us taking a knee inside the ten to end the game... but it had been a 28 point game in the 4th, and the reserves allowed UTM to score too quickly. UTM has a solid offense, and we underestimated them with the backups in too early... but the game was never really in doubt. The UTM defense is questionable... I think that they are a playoff caliber team, but have no chance to make it. Their OOC schedule was ridiculous, playing 2 SEC teams, and an NAIA. Thrown in EKU, JSU, and a surging EIU team, and there is little chance of them getting 7 D1 wins.

They do as time goes on but to be honest Wentz and Lee are top 20 offensive players in FCS regardless. Someone is going to have to put up impressive numbers worthy of mention for me to drop those guys. I expect Wentz will drop unless he returns.

All of the voting is done at the end of the regular season, so Lee could win it… but he won't.

I could see someone winning on a shortened season, but only if there weren't any other strong contenders. Imo, that isn't the case this year.

Right. It's probably Kupp's to lose at this point. Harrington has insane numbers, but they're still not enough to win games for Lamar. Kupp is almost single-handedly winning games for EWU.

From a stat point of view that isn't quite true...we still had an excellent passing half against UNI after Coop was gone for the 2nd half, and againt cal poly he was limited to 3 catches for 20 yards since he was triple teamed the whole time...although I guess you could argue him taking away defenders helped the rest of the core...

Our top 3 receivers are all stars (but 1 is out for the season) so Kupp and Bourne have been doing the bulk of the heavy lifting. Splendario would be on the list but he has had shoulder separation issues since game 1, when he is in he is making great grabs too! Team effort, but Kupp definitely is a stud.

First WR to win it (in a long time) and only due to attrition I would think, sad.

I would say that actually proves his point. He's out for the 2nd half against UNI, and you lose. He's tripled teamed against CP which means they basically had to gameplan entirely around him. So even without getting the stats, he was the difference.

This is nothing against your other receivers, they're an awesome bunch. But Kupp is the difference right now.

If UNI finishes strong and he has a few more top performances I'll add him back. I only dropped him because I had 2 from UNI in the top 20, had some others who showed out and deserved a bump, combined with the fact UNI is 3-4. If UNI finishes strong and he finishes strong then I'll put him back in. There is no question he is a top 10 LB in the country right now though.

I don't care how many Panthers or other players from other teams, are on the list. A player like that shouldn't be left off the list, especially for flimsy reasons like that

No but I'm saying that if a team is not considered a playoff team people will ask why that team has so many on the list. I picked the best player but leave no mistake your LB is a stud. I would say he is a 2nd team All-American as of now.

If you look at my lists I don't put many from the low end conferences in my top 20 because I know who they are doing it against. I would rather have McMakin over any LB in the PFL, PL, SWAC, or NEC right now for sure.

It is hard to just pick 5. If I had him in the top 5 and dropped anyone else in there then their fans would ask why their guy was not in there. There is always going to be a snub. My main goal is that the person who would win it right now is definitely in that top 5.

Understood. I was just thinking that there cannot be many individuals who have taken the team on their own shoulders and tried to will them to wins. Prukop has definitely done (had to do) this for the Bobcats this year. He and his performance are the only way Cats are going to win games, unless Ditka becomes the mid-season Defensive Coordinator for MSU.
