Must be more coaches hailing from Montana, Eastern Ohio and the Carolina coast than I ever realized.

Zero votes for 6-0 Dayton.... They must all be busy coaching....

The latest poll is a head scratcher for sure. How is The Citadel not in the top 25? How is Furman still receiving votes? Northern Iowa at 25 with a 2-4 record?

Now realize, I'm no Citadel fan by any means. So, what impresses me so far with The Citadel? Here are a few stats.

Total offense, #3 in the SoCon and #29 in FCS at 428.8 ypg
3rd conversion, #1 in the SoCon, #7 in FCS at 52.6%
Pass Defense Effic, #1 in the SoCon, #12 in FCS at 101.44

take away the Davidson game and we drop a little, but not much
I've been long suffering since 1992 and Ive become a bit jaded. Im not quite convinced that this team is a legitimate conference title contender, but the sammy game definitely has me cautiously optimistic
if being a fan of FCS football has taught me anything, it is that the only consistent thing at this level is inconsistency... we could lose to VMI or Mercer by 30 points
the last time we were on a 2 game SiCon winning streak we beat GSU and then curb stomped ASU at the rock
we didnt finish in the top 3 in the socon that year....

I said the same thing about the Citadel when I saw the AGS poll

I will admit that I barely snuck my Dogs in the AGS poll after I saw their performance against Samford following their performance against Wofford. One week could have been luck. 2 weeks in a row and on the road and I think we have something here. I think we caught them flatfooted, but I think we might be hitting our stride as well. Samford is no slouch. They demolished Cent Arkansas, they handed VMI their worst loss of the year, at VMI. The FL A&M game and Louisville are not good indicators either way. And they were somewhat close with Chatty.
But like I said, I snuck my Bulldogs in. I was very hesitant to. I am not sure that they have leaned how to win yet on consistent basis. Maybe. I will be a solid believer if we put Furman away in Greenville. Everyone seems to have discounted Furman but they are due to awaken at some point. Just hope it is not this weekend. There is a huge amount of electricity in the Corps and from Bulldog fans right now. I like it. But I just hope the light isn't brightest before our bubble bursts and the fans take a hard fall. We have Furman, Mercer, and VMI before the most serious test of Chatty. Anyone of those first three teams can burst our bubble if we do not prepare properly.

I can see wanting a few votes, but still not a killer schedule.

Right. Two reasons not to rank Dayton…
1. They haven't exactly dominated their weak schedule (beat RMU by 3, beat Stetson by 13, etc.)
2. Kacsor is done for the year.

Not defending them and I did not vote for them, but games mentioned were both away games and I think someone else beat RMU by only 3 as well, at home and in OT, who was that.....xeyebrowx
But you are right, their schedule is just too weak. Same goes for Ivy in my estimation. They get some sort of computer bump from their insulated circle jerk schedule.

Well… YSU has kinda shown that result wasn't a fluke the last couple weeks, haven't they? xsmiley_wix
As for the Ivies… Many of them also have weak schedules (though the Ivy League is clearly better than Pioneer), but Harvard & Dartmouth have dominated those schedules. Dayton has struggled against many of the same caliber of opponents. It's fair to argue the Ivies are overrated, but the "so why not rank Dayton?" line that some have used isn't a good counterargument.

My comment was that Dayton got ZERO votes. I am not arguing for being ranked yet, but Dayton should be in the top 40 or so....

Kacsor is gone but there are three good backs rotating now. They are getting better each week.

That may be true but I'm not sure what your evidence is. Dayton ran for a total of 49 yards against San Diego, and the other game was against awful Valpo.

Evidence is my personal observation from the last two games.
