Sportsman of the Year: Dwyane Wade

He hurled the ball high into the air, and it spun up and away and forgotten, the object that just moments before had been the most important thing in the building. Dwyane Wade began screaming. The clock ticked to zero, the horn sounded: But he knew already. He had known before anyone else in the arena that it was over, that his Miami Heat had come back yet again and won the 2006 NBA championship, that on this June night in Dallas he had, at 24, risen above his preordained peers to clutch the only prize that matters. The rest, though? He knew almost none of that.

They should have gave the NBA ref's an honorable mention for getting Wade the award. Or whoever his acting coach is. What a scam.

Tiger Woods & Roger Federer...

...then DWade.

What Wade did during the playoffs is remarkable, but Woods OWNS the PGA Tour and golf worldwide and likely would have taken the grand Slam if not for the death of his father.

When they start changing the rules in the NBA to "Wadeproof" the sport the way golf courses have to "Tigerproof" them then Wade will be in Woods' class, but not a minute before.

I could also make a very strong case for Roger Federer. He went something like 94-5 on the year and won 3 of the 4 grand slam events while finishing 2nd in the one he didn't win. He won the season ending ATP Title as well. Pure class too.

The difference in the ranking points between Federer and whoever is #2 this week is greater than the difference between #2 and #58. THAT'S DOMINANCE!!!!!

I would have voted for Federer, then Woods, with Wade being somewhere way behind those two.
