First off congrats to Coach Glenn and the Coyotes. They came to play today and played extremely hard. They were the better team on the field and deserved to win today.
That was a pathetic and embarassing performance by the Bison. They had no energy and determination to win the game today. Not sure what to make of this team this season but they are definitely not championship caliber at this point. Very disappointed with today's performance. My personal opinion about the game is that the Bison played like garbage and they deserved to lose, USD took it to them on both sides, but I think these losses are good for them. Nonestop winning breeds complacency and an aura of invincibility that doesn't really exist. I'm guessing that this loss will open some eyes..... Well at least I'm hoping it does.

Klieman said they got beat by a better team....I would say more like he was beat by a better coach.
I agree. No matter what Klieman says, or what any of the Bison faithful think, the Bison coaching staff definitely thought this game would be a gimme. They thought the Coyotes' defense could be their guinea pig to try out new things on offense, because HEY, IT'S ****ING USD. It's a stupid mentality to have. Do what works, do what has been winning you games.
What really got me though was the Bonnett reception that was overturned. Not arguing the call, but if there is any question whatsoever that it was incomplete, Wentz needed to get his ass to the line and hike the ball to prevent review. There was no urgency at all, and what would've been possibly a drive ending in a touchdown ended up being on that turned into a missed field goal.
What also needs to change is the RB mess we have. Morlock had a few nice 6-10 yard gains, but right after a run Frazier or Anderson would come in for him. Go back to RBs alternating series like we did with Ojuri and Crockett.
Congrats to USD. Saeger and Bouma made us look ridiculous.

Do not like what Polasek has done with the offense. We are going away from power to finesse. We all know what happens when you try that in the Valley. The defense is soft too. We need a coach that knows what power football is. I thought Klieman was supposed to be a defensive coach? Defense was awful. We just solidified road games throughout the playoffs...

What this proves is what we all know, the MVFC is a grind, a very deep, very good conference where you have to bring your best every Saturday. You have to take into consideration of the politics of having NDSU host games. If NDSU gets to the semis, the playoffs are 100% funded by NDSU for that year. Same thing for Montana, JMU or anyone that will fill out at ~20k stadium for 3 games.

The absolute refusal to stop trying to run at a loaded box on 1st and 2nd down, was a huge part of the this. Bison needed to spread out in the second half and they wouldn't do it. Who knows why, hubris on the Bison coaching, yeah probably, but USD's D was flat out beaten us to the point.

Absolutely not. A 9-2 NDSU is the #1/2 seed. A 7-4 NDSU is probably a 4/5 seed. The politics involved in the playoffs are important.
Talking about how the L should be a wakeup call for the team! Jax St. / Coastal / JMU to name a few each have to lose 1-2 games for NDSU to be the #1/2 seed. 9-2 and sole winner of the MVFC might get them #3/4 at best in that scenario.
7-4? Opening week home game. Politics only count when $$$ is involved when there are no seeds...

A 7-4 team as a 4 seed??? I mean yeah the Valley is tough but that sounds a little ridiculous.

Absolutely. The playoffs are all about politics and money and recent history. SHSU proved that a few years ago.

The NCAA and Frisco both want NDSU to have home field advantage. More seats filled is more dollars. Not that that is right but it is how it works. Currently I don't think NDSU could get out of the quarterfinals based off of today and other games, but if the one that showed up for Weber and UND games came, I don't think they could lose. Way too bipolar of a team

Oh for sure. I'm not arguing that it is right. What I am arguing is that it is reality.

It was hubris. We don't have a NFL level RB anymore.

Bingo. Also, I'm not saying it's right, but that's what we've seen with just SHSU two years ago.
That's what happens with a young and inexperienced defense....however I have literally no excuses for the offense. So poor.

You guys are delusional. There is no ****ing way a 7-4 team gets a top 4 seed unless there are only 3 teams with fewer losses. Not happening.

Maybe not a 4 seed, but if NDSU makes the playoffs they will be seeded. If NDSU doesn't lose anymore, you will see the committee give NDSU as many home games as possible.

SHSU a few years ago it was to JUST GET IN THE PLAYOFFS at 7-4 with 6 D1 W's IIRC. Not that they were then seeded as well. Put down the beer and green/yellow glasses for 5 minutes and look up.

Which is why IF (and I doubt it) NDSU wins out and ISUr loses just 1 game, NDSU has a lock for a top2 seed with JMU getting the other one. I don't think JSU would get it and with SOS would get that 4 seed. I feel bad for Coastal but they would most likely be on the outside looking in since ISUr would get that 3 seed and once again NDSU lucks out. Again, all based off of how the season goes and if they fall in line, but a loss for NDSU is a loss for the NCAA and the committee which inadvertently affects Frisco. The committee would rather see dollars than honesty and non biased voting.
Great game from USD again. Hats off to a team that showed up and wanted it more. Glenn is a likeable guy

If we want to win out, we will have to remember- NDSU cannot win by being a run first team. We try this again and we will lose again. We cannot keep trying to force time of possession, win whatever way possible. The run will open when teams respect the throw.

The 4 time defending, #1 ranked team in the land fell to an untangled foe. So I wandered on over to check out what happened.
I used to kid about NDSU fans being insecure but good god!

NDSU better win the MVFC if they want to see the playoffs. After all, they lost to USD and have 2 losses. A 1 loss team that lost to a team beaten by USD has been kept out before. xdrunkyx

****ty as this loss is, the reality is that NDSU still owns two top-ten wins and has the chance to add a few more ranked W's when we go play Youngstown State and Indiana State...Western Illinois could start sneaking in as well. 8-3 would absolutely have the Bison in even if they don't win the Valley. That said, we should still win the MVFC. That'd be cool.

Worst performance I have seen from the Bison in the FD since Cal Davis in 2005 or somewhere in there.
I wish they would stick to the power west coast offense instead of this shotgun and read option crap.

Surprisingly, its not that bad. Montana prepared us. There is a lot of discussion about the play calling, schemes. Which is fair considering we lost to the second worst team in the valley.

USD played with a lot of heart today but they should not have been in the game. But hats off to USD they clawed and scratched to a win and they deserved to win.
But what a piss poor effort by the Bison. Polasek took a huge step back IMO. Plus the defense could not get off the field. IMO, our 2 OLB are very average at best. They are not gap sound and make a ton of mistakes. Deluca in the middle is rock solid but Tucker and Stumpf played horrible games. Seems like PGT is always hurt or nursing some injury.

The play calling has lost us 2 games. Montana with throwing when we should have been running on the last possession. Today, taking the foot off the pedal. If we don't change our play calling we win. But no- run run pass every freaking time. I felt like I was watching a middle school coach call plays.
Our success has gone to the heads of the coaching staff. They weren't prepared. They came to this game to test out the NDSU run game, and try new things. If you don't respect your opponents, you will lose.

PL, what the heck is up with the O-line? Is it this zone blocking crap? Or are teams just game planning better?

We are terrible against the option, and up tempo. Our blocking scheme is man instead of power on O.
