idk why people would want to vote for CP-EWU. Either EWU is gonna blow them out or it's gonne be a really ugly 70-67 game. UNI game, could be a blowout for NDSU but the current rivalry and the 100000000 bizon fans on this board help that vote.

It doesn't have a highly ranked team for curb appeal, but it will tell us a lot about at least one team, probably both, and indicate that at least the loser is not a playoff team (depending how the winner looks, it could show us that they are not really a threat either)

A really awesome 70-67 game you mean? One that should be a game of the week?

How many of those votes came from Bison fans? I've been counting along and it seemed pretty widespread to me but people always take the shortest route to an answer so maybe you are right but I think at least 1/2 the seconds have been from outsiders or UNI fans.

BTW, NDSU is not the GOTW every week so that also points to a less slanted type of thing I would think.

I think that the votes should be based on the best game. NDSU is hitting their stride right now and based on the QB situation at UNI, I say that NDSU will win flat out. The probabilities are much tighter on other games. Just because there are a ton of NDSU fans voting here shouldn't sway the votes so much right? UNI has two losses now. I think Cal Poly/EWU will be a better game. Hopefully I am wrong but it just seems that way.

Its still UNI....there are two conference games a year that get a Bison fan's blood pressure up (also piss/vinegar). It is UNI and SDSU....they just happen to be in back-to-back weeks this year.

It is purely democratic, we ain't doing anything other nominating and voting, unless you have something other than "I think" type of stuff about how this has ran the last few years and the games that have won it each week I'd ask you look into the results from the past before worrying about tweaking.

You obviously don't remember last years game. The same kind of scenario played out last year, UNI lost a few early games, NDSU was rolling, then UNI stomped us. Both teams seem to get up for this game no matter the records.

Furman vs. Chattanooga is huge in terms of who will represent the SoCon, if we all start beating each other up this might be a one bid league again this year so the winner of this one will have a huge inside track to the postseason.

I'm curious, Ursus, if you are counting these sorts of seconds. I don't pay close enough attention to the thread to determine how you are tallying, but according to the letter of the "law," it is my understanding that the response needs to begin with "I second" and include the names of the teams.

Yes it does and responses like that are not counted. I have been an asshole in not giving any slack on this matter, or very little. Those do not count as you mentioned.

I would count Paladinfan's if it were attached via quote to the nomination or another second clearly stating the two teams it was seconding.

It wasn't about picking anyone out of the crowd. That example was just the last one showing in the thread, and I am genuinely curious how he is counting them.

I figured if folks are taking the time to respond, they should probably know whether their response counts. And if not... how to correct it so that it does count.

In your post you never said "I second" about anything did you? You talked about the importance of the game and so forth but I'm not counting posts where people have discussions...I'm counting nominations and seconds and that is it. Try running one of these once and you see why it's stringent. It sucks to sit here and try and decipher what things are so it is a simple matter of following the rules and I will count things up for you. Otherwise I skip right on by it as if it did not happen.

On the other question, we can have three if there is a tie I do run it that way occasionally.

I think a good poll rule for the future would be to disqualify a team who was in the previous poll UNI (UNI @ ISU) when they lose, seems strange to have their game be one of the best when they fell flat last week already after being in the game of the week poll, but that's just one mans opinion xpeacex

Brother, whoever the fans here on AGS want to see is who we get. There are only a couple of rules and I place them in the initial post...the rest is pure natural selection and democracy. In other words, you dip****s from the non-MVFC conferences need to stop seconding thirty God D--n games from their conference in addition to the one from yours that you actually want to win. They can do alright by themselves.

I did go with a three teamer this week. We'll see if the total votes pulled in goes up, stays the same, etc. but with two MVFC and one non it should make it an interesting race but I don't see how UNI/NDSU doesn't get this one..

For bootfitter and anyone else that hasn't seen this process or just didn't really care until now here is how it is done.

A team is nominated, that team is then seconded by another. This moves it into the seconded category and out of the nomination category. After that I BEGIN tallying all other seconds to accumulate the number behind the game so basically it would/should be all seconds minus one for the total. The two or three highest totals move on the actual poll.xdrunkyx

No. 6 Mocs Host Furman Saturday

(From UTC game notes) http://gomocs.com/news/2015/10/7/FB_1007155025.aspx

The No. 6 Chattanooga Mocs return to Southern Conference action this weekend, hosting the Furman Paladins. Game time is set for 1:04 p.m. (E.D.T.) on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The Mocs are boasting their highest FCS ranking in school history. UTC carries a 3-1 overall record and a 1-0 mark in SoCon action into this weekend's matchup. The Paladins are 3-2 overall and also 1-0 in league play.

UTC moved up from No. 8 in both the STATS.com FCS Top 25 and the FCS Coaches Poll. These are the two rankings officially recognized by the NCAA. It is the 21st consecutive week the Mocs have been ranked, a streak that dates back to Nov. 9, 2013.

Furman has played a tough schedule that includes a three-point loss to then-No. 5 and current No. 1 Coastal Carolina. The Paladins have also faced two FBS teams, including an impressive 16-15 win at Central Florida on Sept. 19.

NOTES TO KNOW ABOUT THE SERIES
• This is the 45th meeting between these two teams.
• Furman leads the all-time series 27-17.
• The Mocs snapped a 15-game losing streak with a 36-28 win at Furman on Oct. 23, 2010.
• UTC has won four of the last five games.
• UTC has a better road record (10-12) than home mark (7-15) against Furman.
• The Mocs are just 1-8 against Furman in Finley Stadium.
• Chattanooga is 4-2 against Furman in the Russ Huesman (http://gomocs.com/coaches.aspx?rc=290) era (since 2009).
• The Mocs have not won four in a row against Furman since a five game winning streak to start the series from 1928 to 1968.

Already more total votes than in last weeks poll!

So there are more NDSU fans on here is all I can see from it. Makes sense.

No, last week there were more votes for NDSU than there are this week so far.

No, last week there were more votes for NDSU than there are this week so far. Better more compelling game for Bizun last week. Now, if the other team would have performed better!

Bumping a question, my answer, and UCABEAR's concern. You are going to find Bison fans that get more hyped up for the UNI game more than SDSU (especially lately) because of how competitive and nasty they've been...

I get way more hyped for UNI then SDSU. Maybe because its the way some of their fans talked when we joined, or its because it is a lot more competitive game? I cant really put my finger on it.

I actually voted for Illinois St and YSU. To me that game is more evenly matched thus more interesting as GOTW ;)

At least for me and some of my friends, we have a special hate for UNI. No hate for SDSU, just great games. I will cheer for SDSU, never UNI. :D

Furman-Chatty probably has the most meaning for a conference title. That said, ISUR-YSU is one that I am really the most interested in. YSU seems like a mystery right now and this game will go a long ways to showing where they are at.

That said, if UNI had won last week their game with NDSU would be the slam dunk GOTW in my opinion.

Only 4 more total votes needed to surpass the most received on an AGS GOTW poll this year, will it make it???

Those sorts of things would really do well in the thread on that game GameBreaker. Fine here now just want to make sure the "counting" aspect of the thread is not compromised going forward with the vids and promo's and so forth.
