Miller the CB and Spence from EKU are the two most talented of that top 5 but with the history of Montana DEs and the stats Holmes has put up it is easy to see why people will say he is the front runner. This award is stat driven and his stats do indeed seem to be driving the train.

Vad Lee threw 5 of those int. in one game, home against Albany. Some of the passes were thrown right to Albany DBs. He also may have had his worst game running with 72 yard. That being said, he still managed to put up 275 yard passing for total offensive production of 347. His 4 1st half interceptions kept Albany in the game for the 1st half, 14-14; however, the game was never in doubt from early in the 3rd quarter on. His performances against JMU's two toughest opoents so far, SMU and Stony Brook were superb. Living on the East Coast, I see way more FCS football in our region, but it is hard to imagine any other offensive player having a better season than VL to this point in the 2015 season. He's also leading his team to wins, something that should be critical when selecting POY honors. I did see Kupp against Oregon, his performance was epic! However, a WR is at a big disadvantage against a QB in POY. A QB controls the tempo of the game, and has way more opportunities to effect the outcome; particularly a true dual threat guy like Vad Lee.

I agree, if he throws 5 interceptions against Richmond ot W&M, or in a playoff game, the dukes are likely to lose. I just don't think he is going to have another game even remotely like that.

I remember at least two of those picks going unimpeded into the arms of DBs. It was by far the worst CAA game I've seen Vad play out of the 4 I've attended during his JMU career, and that's both his passing and rushing. But you don't have to sell me on Vad Lee, I think he is an incredible talent and my intent on posting was to advocate for him as being number one candidate for offensive POY at this point in the season. I'm neither a JMU fan nor a detractor. totally neutral. Bridgeforth is just a nearby place for me to see some great CAA match-ups!

Sam Houston State is getting strong play from their punter and CB Everett. Both of them have become legit NFL prospects.

Idaho State DT Tyler Kuder is another name rising on my lists.

William & Mary LB Luke Rhodes is going to be replaced fully by their DB DHC after seeing them both live and in person. Rhodes may go higher in the draft than he should because of his tools but he is not playing like an All-American at all right now.

Liberty QB Josh Woodrum is getting mid round buzz from NFL sources but I have him as a 7th-PFA instead of a 3-5 like some scouts have him.

Campbell DE Ugonna is looking better this year and is likely to get a combine invite if he can have a couple more big games.

The play of Haeg and Carson Wentz at NDSU has been pretty strong. They are definitely going to the Combine and both will likely end up in the Senior Bowl.

Southern Utah has 3 strong defenders in Cowser, Sims, and Killebrew. At least two of them will get drafted and Killebrew is a lock for the Senior Bowl.
