Nonsense. Maybe just not as highly. When two solid teams play and one happens to be more solid, it doesn't mean the other isn't solid. Just not as solid. Right?

Special teams at the beginning of the game. SDSU'S blunder putting them at the own 3 yard line their second drive of the game. Then NDSU'S ridiculous good special teams play to pin them down at SDSU'S own half yard line. Those two plays set the tone on how the rest of the night would go. We essentially had no opportunity to be creative on play calling since we were pinned down so much. It wasn't until the game was already won when we finally found some field position and we're able to move the ball (through the air).
NDSU made no mistakes in the first half.

I think NDSU employed the same defensive strategy yesterday with Weineke that they have in past years with Zenner in that they do everything they can to take SDSU's offensive superstar out of the game and make someone else beat them. I think this game exposed once again how uncreative SDSU's offensive game plans have been in this series. We NDSU fans have given our OC plenty of grief this year but, if nothing else, he's been creative. I think SDSU's offensive staff better spend overtime in the film room this week cuz NDSU just gave every other team on SDSU's schedule the defensive blueprint for success.
Tough to find much to complain about from NDSU's perspective. Sloppy turnovers when trying to seal the game away were frustrating but with a QB like Wentz, as long as he stays healthy enough to be a dual threat, is going to be a nightmare matchup for any FCS defense.

I didn't watch him a ton but whenever #19 went in motion the whole Bison defense was aware of it. On that goal line stand where Lujan got sacked back to about the 6 Weineke went in motion and was absolutely bracketed by defenders which I think caused the sack since Lujan never seemed to have anywhere to throw it.

I disagree. Numerous times when I was specifically watching CJ Smith and Weineke NDSU had him bracketed. I think in reality it was a mixture of 1 on 1, rolling coverage that way and also bracketing him with an OLB or Safety.
The NDSU run defense was outstanding last night completely taking that away from the Jackrabbits.
The stadium looks really impressive and the indoor practice facility was really nice. I liked how they had some inflatable jump houses for the younger kids to play with.

We sucked. It is frustrating for SDSU fans because what we saw last night is not the same SDSU team we see week in-week out. It would seem that is the case almost always when we play the Bison. It is also clear that our D-line is terrible. We haven't got pressure all year. LAST NIGHT our OL looked terrible, I'm not going to say they are terrible because I know that next week they will play just fine. NDSU's D line and overall defensive scheme just destroys anything that the Jacks wanted to do offensively. Because our Oline crumbled yesterday everything else around it also crumbled -- like Lujans spirit and the chance of Weineke getting a decent ball thrown his way. Lujan is a fine QB, but he was on the ground every play. The other impressive thing was that we didn't throw a pick or fumble the ball -- NDSU'S defense was just a stone wall.

My honest assessment is there is a talent and coaching difference. SDSU isn't a bad team. Top 10 easily, perhaps in the 6-8 range. Sagarin still ranks SDSU in the top 4. The main difference is that we have a NFL quality QB and a LOT of offensive weapons. Plus we have gotten away from power a little, our offense is more creative than it used be. We are a difficult team to stop. You had a great game plan for us last year, this year not as much.

It seems we always play to not lose instead of playing to win against NDSU. That mentality bleeds into the players and then they end up playing without confidence and having all the stupid unforced errors that hurt us yesterday. Is NDSU better than SDSU. Yep. Not sure it's as big of a difference as there was yesterday. Until we get over the mental block we have vs the bison we will never make it past the second round of the playoffs when we get sent to fargo.

As far as the Oline is concerned, they looked poor in the run blocking department. But so did WSU and UND. Again partial credit to NDSU. What's more worrisome is their struggles to run the ball against RM.
I thought they were adequate with their pass protection. Not great, but not awful either. NDSU had more success with their rush once they could tee off, knowing the Jacks needed to pass the ball.
NDSU made the blueprint. Take Weinke out of the game and make someone else beat you. What we learned is that Weinke is popular target because some of their other options struggle with the skill of catching the ball.
Back to where I started, the Jacks are going to have to have more success in the running game if they expect to fair well in the MVFC. I'm not sold either way yet, time will tell.

I'd also say that right now NDSU's DTs, Brian Schaetz and Nate Tanguay, are playing better than any DT tandem in the country. Its just impossible for teams to get a ground game going against them right now.

We don't have a coaching staff with enough imagination to do anything creative.
That said, watching the Bison yesterday was not like watching the Bison in week 1. I think NDSU rolls to a fifth title. Their O and D lines are nasty, and there is no question Wentz is the top FCS QB this year, and possibly the best in a long line of very good Bison QBs. He can do it all.
Good luck UNI. I get the impression you have a head coach who is about as creative as ours.
I really thought the Jacks would have tried to do what Montana did. More spread, fast play. Bison D looks a hell of a lot better now though

UNI always plays NDSU tough. Good match up for them. That said, Wentz will be a huge problem for them. He can run really well on top of his passing ability. But the question is will Farley put his ego aside and put Kollmorgen in. Bailey looks athletic but is not the passer SK is.
IMO, NDSU is talented for UNI this year. NDSU's defense is playing lights out and it should continue against UNI.
As for the Jacks, it was only game 1 of 8 in Valley play. Ind State will come ready to win the game and the Jacks better be ready.

Decision making (http://insidethepylon.com/film-study/film-study-nfl/offense-film-study-nfl/2015/09/16/nfl-film-review-week-1-aaron-rodgers-the-quick/) is one of the most important traits (http://insidethepylon.com/nfl/teams-nfl/afc-east/new-england-patriots/2015/08/12/jimmy-garoppolo-a-trait-based-approach/) for a quarterback to master ‒ when to take a chance (http://insidethepylon.com/film-study/film-study-nfl/offense-film-study-nfl/2015/02/03/super-bowl-xlix-russell-wilson-throw/), and when to throw it away (http://insidethepylon.com/nfl/teams-nfl/afc-east/new-england-patriots/2015/05/21/the-brady-legend-the-best-throwaway-in-nfl-history/). Mark Schofield (http://insidethepylon.com/author/mascho/) looks at Stanford’s Kevin Hogan (http://insidethepylon.com/film-study/film-study-u/offense-film-study-u/2015/09/29/cfb-drive-stanford-getting-home-in-three-plays/), and North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz (http://insidethepylon.com/blog/2015/08/31/mark-schofield-on-rsp-film-room-carson-wentz/), and the key question: to throw or not to throw.

One play that really stood out to me in this Saturday's game was Carson's completion on a deep out. SDSU cornerback Jimmy Forsythe read the route and jumped it... problem was, Wentz threw an absolute dart on an incredibly difficult throw, so what would have been a pick 6 for 90% of college QBs ended up to be a beautiful (or disgusting is you are a Jackrabbit fan) sideline completion.
The moral of the story: A quarterback's arm strength can have a major impact on whether or not a throw is a good decision or a bad decision.
