Here is my biased take as a Chattanooga Fan.....I do not see anybody on Jax States schedule tripping them up. They will remain the #1 seed. We should have no problem going into the FSU game 9-1 (Furman, Wofford and Citadel all have potential to upset that). IF we are 9-2 with the only FCS loss coming to the top seed (by 3 points), We will move up. Looking at the 6 teams ahead of us....

#1 JSU will win out and remain at #1...We need this to happen, it only helps us.
#2 NDSU has a tough schedule but they are NDSU, so winning out is quite possible, but they have SD, UNI, ISUb, and YSU remaining...all of which are able to knock NDSU off their game.
#3 CCU Should win out, but they do have to play Liberty at the end of the season.
#4 SHS SUCKS. There is no reason for them to be a #4, I don't care who is on their schedule, they will lose again.
#5 ISUr The are a solid team, but they have some serious competition coming up (UNI, YSU, ISUb, SDS)They will have another loss.
#6 JMU Like CCU, they should win out, but Stoney Brook, W&M, and Villanova could derail them.

Based on Schedules alone, I think we could jump up as high as #2 (if the planets align), but realistically #4.......JUST KEEP WINNING!!!!!!

Way too early in the season to even think about this. However, I don't think the committee would have Coastal and Liberty face each other again 2 weeks later.

They would be more likely to stage a JMU re-match with great ticket sales. IMO

Thats exactly what happened to UNH and Maine in 2013.

You are assuming Liberty beats W&M in the 1st round of your scenario unless you are changing the 1st round matchup as well. Under your change, there is a JMU-W&M rematch if W&M beats Liberty. Either way, you get the possibility of a rematch.

They ignored the proximity rule. Stony Brook would play Fordham in the opening round, if I'm not mistaken.

Pretty much what everyone was saying last year after Sam stumbled against a D2 school. They got better each week. Who knew? Way too early to be making post season decisions.

Since this looks like complete crap with none of the "beloved" regionalization, I would hope that everyone on the right side is smiling from ear to ear about the lack of balance. That's just me but why would some do this and not wait until at least halfway into conference play and/or 2/3 the way done with the season?

Way too early, but interesting.

Stony Brook & Montana State would surely flip brackets.
Villanova most likely wouldn't go back to JMU bracket. Play last week regular season.

Given this bracket I'd see:
Villanova/Stony Brook winner to Chatty.
Samford/McNeese matchup - winner to Coastal
Liberty/W&M winner to JMU
Fordham/Bryant winner to NDSU

EWU and Montana played 2 weeks apart last year if I recall...maybe it was 3.

Montana was 2nd to last game of the season, next week we played Portland St and they had the Brawl, they played in against San Diego and then played us the next round.

JMU likely to win out? CAA teams finishing 8-0 in conference play is as common as a thunderstorm in Coos County, NH in January. JMU still has to play Stony Brook, William&Mary, Richmond and Villanova.
UNH did it last year, but through a lucky conference schedule they didn't have to play the # 2 and 3 2014 CAA teams, Villanova and JMU.

Hell, 80% of the MVFC is off this week. Predict away.

Could you you please put ISUb in it and just be wrong for a while?

Not holding my breath waiting for a USD-Montana rematch of last year's first round.

Fordham/Bryant winner to NDSU

Not playing SDSU in the second round would make both SDSU and NDSU fans happy. It would be nice to have a team like Bryant or Fordham come to town.

Not that I think it'll happen this year, but UD's last home game is JMU, and the Dukes haven't beaten the Hens since 2009.

Just for fun, I like to throw together playoff bracket predictions each week after I do my rankings. It's fun to see there are other rankings out there. It's never too early to make a prediction for how the current season is going to play out, imo.

Good point. I went to the Delaware win @ JMU game last season. There is a lot of size, strength and talent in this Delaware line-up. They have a chance to to beat any CAA opponent. I've got a big "?" on my season calendar when UNH visits U of D in October. I got tickets to that game.

The biggest bull**** of the FCS playoffs is the asinine regionalization rule. They will totally make you face each other just to "save costs". I say seed the entire field and let that determine who goes where. It's the fairest way. If you can't afford to travel, remove yourself from playoff contention.

The NCAA pays for the travel costs.

well than that explains it. they're cheap. we wouldn't want to spend more money than we have to on FCS.

I think it may refer to travel costs for the fans, not the team. By regionalizing, more away team fans may travel and thus sell more tickets.

In their defense this isn't a money-maker for them. The cost savings of a bus trip vs. a plane ride is significant. It is what, it is. I'm just happy the top 8 get seated. I believe in the lower divisions, regionalization is much worse.

1. Jacksonville State

Chattanooga

Lamar

James Madison

Bryant

8. Liberty

4. North Dakota State

William & Mary

Wofford

Eastern Kentucky

Dayton

5. Illinois State

3. Coastal Carolina

Sam Houston State

Southeastern Louisiana

Fordham

Stony Brook

6. Villanova

7. Eastern Washington

Montana

Samford

Northern Iowa

Portland State

2. South Dakota State

A lot of games left between teams of equal strength in some of these power conferences. I know it's quite a stretch to have 3 Valley teams in the top 5. I might have put my seeds a little too focused on current ranking. And yes, I put Lamar in there just for fun. Also, if neither Sam nor SELA have a seed, but both make the playoffs, I could see them playing in the first round again.

Shsu vs SELA doesn't occur again regular season? If so likely to see them play round 1. Three MVFC seeds likely if tri champs with one MVFC loss each.
