NORFOLK, Va. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has disciplined the football officiating crew working the Richmond-Hampton game held on Saturday, September 12, in Hampton, Virginia.

The MEAC officials were disciplined following an evaluation of video by the Coordinator of Football Officials and determined that the officials did not consistently maintain game control and lacked the appropriate judgement on several calls.

“We expect our officials to execute the highest of standards while officiating and remain consistent in adjudicating the rules of the game,” said MEAC Commissioner Dennis Thomas.

The conference will have no further comments regarding this matter.

Ask Richmond fans. They did not seem happy at all. From a biased standpoint it seems like they were trying to cheat.

Since it was played at Hampton, they were cheating. But Hampton fans claim the refs cheated them out of a win too. xcoffeex

They weren't cheating, they were incompetent. Hell, they ejected one of the chain crew guys during the game. Think back to a game where it seemed the refs were making every ridiculously bad call you could think of, even when it was blatantly obvious they were wrong, to screw your team out of a win. Now imagine they were doing it to both teams.

That was pretty much the situation. Add to the horrible calls a continuing inability to get down, distance and chain placement correct and you had the Keystone Cops of officiating.

Having seen a number of games with MEAC officials (in person and on television), THAT statement is hilarious.

MEAC officiating is the absolute worst and have been for a couple of decades now.

MEAC refs are the most incompetent officials in all of college football...it would be funny if it wasn't sad...

How is this on the officials? Chain crew is the responsibility of home administration. Although they are provided by home administration, they are still officials and to be unbiased. I have removed members of chain crews before because they couldn't keep their mouths shut and were mixing it up with the visiting team.
