Assuming that they beat UCLA tomorrow can the Trojans beat Ohio State to win a 3rd National Championship in 4 years?

Well, since God in a sweater vest coaches the Buckeyes I am going to have to say NO.

Now if USC could get DITKA to coach that game,,,,,then MAYBE;)

Has there been a more successful coach in the last 4 years than Pete Carroll?

Most folks are basing this on what? According to the sagarin ratings, OSU is 31st with their only mentionable win being against Michigan. I suppose you could count Texas but I think they've shown they were NEVER a #2 team this year. USC's sagarin rating, #3...having sound wins over SEC West Champion Arkansas, Nebraska..which plays in the Big 12 Championship game tomorrow, and Notre Dame.

That doesnt include decisive wins over Cal and Oregon. OSU has convincing wins over Northern Illinois, Cincinnatti and Bowling Green. Honestly I think this may be one of those instances where you end up seeing that OSU wasnt as good as they were ranked all along. And to be honest I say the same thing about Michigan. The Big 10 will always be the Big 2 + 8 others conference in my opinion when it comes to football.

I wish OSU would put an SEC school on their schedule. Surprisingly enough OSU has never won a bowl game against an SEC school so perhaps that may have something to do with that.

Sooner or later folks are going to learn to respect Pete Carroll. As a team USC only returned 10 starters from last years team and with a win tomorrow will be in the national championship for the 3rd time in a row. Cant help but to respect that when he brings in a QB off the bench that hasnt played, has 2 freshman runningbacks, and a brand new offensive line.

Honestly I dont think OSU has seen a team this year with the speed they'll see from USC. Sure Michigan had Manningham, but Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith on both sides with 2 powerhorses running out of that I-form...:nonono2:

Yes they can but I think OSU wins in a close one.

OSU will find a way to get it done. Tressel is good like that.

Its easy to rebuild a team when EVERY high schooler wants to play for your school after you win 2 NCs.. recruiting gets much easier at that point.

Sorry but USC did not win 2 NC's.

Of course they can, but I hope that if they do get by UCLA today they don't because I am SO sick of the USC hype. A very good program run recently but nevertheless overrated by the media. That was evidenced by the "is USC the greatest team ever" hype that was going around last year when it was clear that the Trojans of 2005 weren't as dominant as the Nebraska team of 1995...never mind anybody before that...even BEFORE the Trojans lost to Texas.

I think Tressel is a better tactician than Caroll. If the matchup does happen, I hope that's enough to get Ohio State over the top.

LOL! Correct, as noted in the other thread I started, we're seeing ESPN2 now say that the "Bowl Subdivision," formerly I-A, champion is determined by the BCS. And the champion as determined in 2003 by the BCS was NOT USC.
