Richmond has set up a website for the 125th meeting of the programs, the most played rivalry in the south. Here are some pictures of past games..

Two great schools with an amazing history. This is what makes college football what it is. Should be an exciting game.

Well damn, you ticks had a bigger stadium at Mayo Island in 1924! :p

Cool pics and a great reason to celebrate what should be another great game in the rivalry's history this year. Good luck to both schools, especially that one not named Richmond.

Great job and great pics. Always glad to see traditional rivalries. Oh, and at least you guys aren't moving the game to Nationals Park or anything stupid like that.

Yeah, nothing stupid like that. I still miss City Stadium, though. Last game there in 2009 (pictured above) had 18,000 in attendance with around 7,000 Tribe fans. One of the classics of the series with the 4th ranked Spiders topping the 5th ranked Tribe 13-10 on a 48 yd. last play FG.

I still think they under-reported attendance on that one. Looked like a full house to me.

There have been a number of memorable games since I was introduced to the rivalry ~20 years ago but that 2009 game definitely stands out.

UR has done a really nice job building up this game. Hopefully both schools have a playoff berth on the line too.

This rivalry has regained a lot of juice over the past decade and is one of the best in FCS. Remember when there was talk that the W&M-UD rivalry was going to overtake this one? Tribe actually won 12 straight from 1989-2000.

What hurt only second to losing that game in '09 was the fact that UR's PK had really struggled to that point but somehow mustered the mojo to nail that kick.

Richmond was one of only two schools that beat the Tribe in 2009 as we only lost to the Spiders and twice to the National Champs NOVA all on the road. Game was a Classic.

Bringing this back to the top.

Richmond may need a win to qualify for the playoffs. Can W&M do to Richmond what Richmond has done recently to W&M and keep them out of the playoffs.

Game on in 6 days.

Huge football game for sure but the rivalry, for me, diminished a bit when UR bolted for the A10 several years ago.

^^I'm sure both fanbases have a few in its ranks that could play the part pretty well, if asked.

I'm still cranky about the last 2 Saturdays but will be ready to go. Anybody seen a point spread yet? I'm guessing it will be a Pick 'em or possibly a small margin for the Indians.

That pic from 1901 was cool. Less than 40 years after the close of the late war.

Just imagine how well ur could have done with its 2015 team in 1901. Back then the forward pass had not even been invented yet.

Other tidbits of information- Marv Levy and Lou Holtz both coached at w&m. Mike Tomlin played at W&M.

Any other highly helpful game-specific information that you can ascertain from the William and Mary football wiki page? xeyebrowx

I'm going to be in Richmond this weekend on kind of late notice doing some house renovations. Mainly just paint and replacing some lighting fixtures on a house I have for sale in Chesterfield. I don't know if I'll have time but if it looks like we will I'm going to scour craigslist for any last minute tickets. As a Coastal and Richmond alum/fan I'm really pulling for a Spider win here.

Didn't JMU just play with white helmets against the Spiders and the Tribe. I can't remember how the white helmets helped JMU, do you?

I thought of that when I saw the helmets released. Maybe the white helmets are good luck for UR in general, no matter which team is wearing them..

Six points and three minutes short of a 10-1 season. 8-3 s/b good enough for a seed. 2008 National Championship team was 8-3! Go Spiders!
