That looks very similar to VCU and UNI's arena. Nice place!

That looks very similar to VCU and UNI's arena. Nice place!

I have season tickets for football and basketball and am in the Touchdown, Hoops and Championship (baseball) Clubs. That gets me into the Johnson Alumni room between the men's and women's games and at halftime. One night they were entertaining a number of people from UNI. Our AD is from there- they were looking for ideas on what they wanted to do. I haven't been in the new one yet, I was only in the UNIDome.

The nice thing is that like Iowa's Carver-Hawkeye Arena, you walk down to your seats and there are no posts in the way. If you ever sat in an obstructed seat in Minnesota's Williams Arena where you can't see the scoreboard at all and only half the court you wonder why they can even sell those type of seats.

The UNIDome was a terrible place to play, and watch basketball - especially since UNI wasn't very good most of the 80s and 90s. There are people who have been going to games for decades say that there were games they could count the number of people there to watch games - like less than 300 in a stadium that could probably house close to 25-30k for a game (and was over 20k a couple times.

Very early photo of the set up

McLeod Center - Opened in 2006 - I think the win % at home for UNI since it opened is 70-80%...maybe higher?

The front has been redone since this photo. The ticket booth is now no longer just a walk up booth. It's probably two or three times that width and a full walk in entry addition.

Connector between McLeod Center and UNIDome. Ticket office and some hall of fame is there. Also host Scholarship Club events in it

There is not a bad seat in that place. I've sat in every section and every 1/3 (bottom, middle, top AND left, center, right) of each section for different basketball games, volleyball games, events, etc... There is no obstruction, except the hoop in the student section. It's a down walk to every single seat. Initial plans had it at ~10-12k seating instead of the 7k7,500 cap depending on the event now but the smaller design was chosen. I think the seats were either to be a small second level OR take the suite out of the north end and fill that in with seats. The suite is used for a ton of things and is a nice character piece to the arena though.

Looked it up...

UNI is 134-29 in the McLeod Center. Good for a 82.2% win % at home.

2 undefeated seasons at home. Worst year in the McLeod was the first year 9-4 (went 3-0 in games in Cedar Falls not in the McLeod).
