A polo should almost always be tucked in, unless it's one of styles that's cut to an untucked look length.

If your shirt doesn't have an even bottom hem, or has tails, it should be tucked in.
If the hem is even all around then it's viable to not tuck in your shirt

2011 the MVC saw Indiana State/Missouri State....on CBS...prime slot afternoon sports.
Thankfully the title games usually have national name recognition
16: UNI over Evansville
15: UNI over Illinois State - UNI top 25
14: Wichita State over Indiana State
13: Creighton over Wichita State - CU top 25
12: Creighton over Illinois State (OT)
11: Indiana State over Missouri State....still shutter at the sight of ScottTrade that empty on national TV
10: UNI over Wichita State - UNI top 25
09: UNI over Illinois State (OT) - UNI just outside top 25
08: Drake over Illinois State....Drake is ISUb mid 00s bad at football bad at basketball, but were top 25 that year
07: Creighton over SIU - both top 25
06: SIU over Bradley - SIU top 25 and both made S16
05: Creighton over Missouri State
04: UNI over Missouri State (2OT)
03: Creighton over Southern Illinois - I believe both were top 25 or close
02: Creighton over Southern Illinois - I believe both were top 25 or close

Congrats to the bunnies! Pretty good game to watch even though it didn't end as I would have hoped.
Really not sure why NDSU didn't double Daum every time he got the ball. Dex did an ok job, but he was gassed and couldn't keep it going throughout.
Denver showed the blueprint Monday night but fell just short. It seemed like every time Daum touched the ball, he would have 2 or 3 guys on him. I get if he gets it almost on the endline to let it be one on one, but if he's anywhere near the bucket, especially in the paint, you gotta get it out of his hands. He's going to be special and I hate that he ended up in Blue!

And then fix the autobid system in the NCAA basketball tournament by awarding the autobids to the regular season champions. This can render the NIT irrelevant. xtwocentsx

Tulsa and Syracuse being in is a travesty.
Syracuse had wins over Texas A&M and UConn on neutral courts, won at Duke, beat Notre Dame which are 4 really good wins. The 'Cuse played a solid OOC schedule overall. They also had the JB suspension. I'm obviously a little biased but they did have some good wins and had to deal with the loss of their head coach. Given all that they had to be a tough team to evaluate.
I have zero clue how Tulsa got in...

Team A has a higher RPI.
Team A had 4 starters hurt/sick for a month.
Team A has zero chance of an at-large.
Team A is UNI. UNI had a higher RPI than Cuse. It has as many top 100 wins, hell, it would have to lose 7 straight vs the top 100 to have as many loses as Cuse did vs the top 100. Listening to the cheater coach explain how he got in on Mike and Mike this morning and it was "Well, they showed it's about who you beat and not who you played". Doesn't answer how UNI didn't get in without the at-large.
Cheater coach was suspended and they went 4-5 without him? BFD. They start nothing but 4 and 5 star top 100 recruits. Hell, even with cheater coach they were only 15-8. Take the name off of Syracuse and there is zero ****ing chance they get in.

Yep. Losing to Tulane, UAB and UNI hurts. Also the fact that no one will play us in Nac hurts for OOC scheduling. The last time we lost at home was against UNI. We offered money to schools to come in and they wouldn't take it.
As for conference, you gotta play what you're given. We aren't in the middle of basketball only schools like UNI being in the MVC and geographically we are an outlier for most conferences.
We may beat WVU and we may not. UNI may beat Texas and they may not. All that matters is what happens this week.

Listen, I don't disagree with the basic principle that SFA is good enough for a 12, or that they'd win a game.
I agree you can only who will play you and can't do anything about your conference - see Bradley, Drake, SIU, MSU, ISUb in the MVC.
You think teams WANT to come to the McLeod Center? UNI has lost 1 game in November at home since the placed opened in 2006...1...and that was this year's opener vs Colorado State. UNI has won well over 80% of it's home games since the place opened. You think teams want to play UNI in general? Look at what happened to our series vs Iowa and Iowa State when they started getting beat.
The only reason we got UNC was Marcus Page being HS teammates with one of our players, getting to play a game in his home state and UNC having played at Iowa and ISU the previous two years.
The MTE is HUGE when it comes to having chances for name wins. You're MTE this year? WMU, Tulane and App State.
Played 4 non D-1 schools in the OOC. I can understand 1, as that's pretty common. You played 4 non-D1s to 5 D1s outside of your MTE in your OOC and one of those 5 D1s was a "return" from last year as part of the 24 hours of hoops. UNI agreed to play in Texas at 7AM for that game if a game happened here this year.
I didn't even know that MTE existed.
I get scheduling issues - you don't think UNI runs into it? 7 NCAA's in 13 years. Consistently being Iowa State (8-2 in the last 10 over the last decade), Iowa (6-4 over last ten), beaten Kansas, taken Louisville to the final minute twice(both times getting jobbed from the refs), beating B10, B12, P12, Big East schools on a regular basis.
If all you're worried about is a home win streak vs non-D1s and sub 200 RPI conference teams, then by all means keep that kind of schedule. It leaves zero room for any kind of room to talk come selection Sunday.

Evansville did for sure.
bottom half MVC teams won both tournaments last year, going away in both.
We saw every single MVC team that was invited to those tournaments turn them down this year - Illinois State, Evansville, Southern Illinois and Indiana State.
With the new Vegas 16 tournament - also turned down by Illinois State and Evansville - I'd be shocked if the CBI and CIT held on. I think the new Vegas format is going to go over real well and we'll be down to the NCAA, NIT and V16
The CBI and CIT are money losers - paying 35K plus to host a 4th tier tournament is crazy.
I know UNI would have turned down both CBI and CIT but would have done NIT or V16

Plenty is known about it
Games will be played at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. First round games will be played March 26 and March 27, the quarterfinals on March 28, with the semifinals March 29 and the championship March 30. Every single game will be on CBSSports
The tournament is paying all expenses, outside of food. Initially teams would have to pay for travel/hotel but the tournament picked those costs up recently. Even if they don't they one week tournament costs less than hosting 2 CBI/CIT games
They needs a few big names to be in it to give it credibility from the start, thought.

It doesn't help your team get a better seed when the NCAA only looks at 28 of your 32 games and 17 of them are 200+ RPI games.
Sometimes you need to be willing to go on the road. If you're good enough to win you shouldn't be scared of a few road games or a better MTE. You're going to win that league anyway and it isn't going to get you a better seed.
May as well attempt a resume with better teams on it through neutral/road games.

The same situation kept Evansville out of the NIT. E'ville is notoriously bad a scheduling. They do SWAC/OVC games time after time and it hurts them come MVC time. They aren't ready for the caliber of play and RPI is killed come post season time.
This year Evansville's OOC was

I understand, and no, they finished second.
That's what I'm getting at, though.
2nd place team in the MVC at 25-9 that lost in the conference title game on a last second 18 foot jumper and they don't get an NIT bit because of their schedule.
Had SFA finished with 1 loss in the SLC and it cost them the regular season title game and then lost in the tournament they likely aren't an NIT team either.

Eh, I agree with your point that they should schedule better, but strictly speaking they didn't get NIT bc too many auto bids were given out (unlike NCAA no set number of those) and it is a money making venture, therefore entry is based on revenue generation as opposed to purely deserving of a spot.

Evansville was more than good enough to double the strength of their schedule, still finish with 24-25 wins. That gets their RPI closer to 60 and would have gotten them in.

I rarely agree with Coach Squid of Kentucky, but he hit it on the head when he said that one year they pick one criteria, the next year it is another criteria and a third year is it yet another one. No consistency at all. It was as if they had made their decisions before the last day.

I agree. I know that you probably lose money on the thing, but I had never even seen GCU play before I watched them win last night. They had a lot of people at the game. Good publicity for the school, plus extra practices for the team. If you don't want to play the seniors you could get a start on the next season- although as a senior I would jump at the chance to play another game.
jacksfan29
March 15th, 2016, 06:28 PM
I thought the NDSU decision had more to do with injuries and seniors not wanting to play.
As a side note, I had heard the CBI and CIT had some issues filling out the brackets this year. A lot of teams are saying no. The cost is too high, the exposure isn't really worth it. Once the NCAA and NIT begin no one knows, or cares if you are in a lesser tournament.

The bottom tournaments are tricky. In general P5 conferences want their members to stay away. MWC, MVC, CUSA, AAC, A10 will take bids but not by top half teams. They'll pass. Last year the MVC swept the CIT and CBI but it was by our 5th and 6th place teams. I think you'll see more and more respected programs, or programs trying to get to respected level pass on these things.
They give your players another game and some extra practice time but the reality is redshirted players still can't play and an extra week of practice after 6 months isn't going to do much. Financially it's a pitfall for schools.
It's not extra exposure to anyone but the hardcore fan base. It's not on ESPN. It's not talked about on ESPN. It's not on yahoo. There's no TV for it. The only people that go are hardcore fans or those who see deeply discounted tickets to get in the door and go "why the hell not?"

I think 64 is too far, though there are currently 40 teams between the CBI, CIT and V16(8).
48 is essentially the current NIT with the one of the two added into it and the others go away. That's fine. There aren't 132 post season quality teams.
As far as getting it I'd say rules are
1. Auto-bid to anyone that wins the regular season but doesn't win the AQ or get an AL.
2. Must finish OVER .500 in conference play, including conference tournament.
3. RPI must be top 150 (I'd be okay with making it 125ish)

The nova/x problem is fundamentally different from seeding problems/who got in who shouldn't/left out who should have been in. And I'm not saying it's more of a problem or it matters more bc it's my team, just fundamentally different.
Here's why: nova by the rules should be in philly; x by the rules should be in louisville. It has nothing to do with committee judgments, except their judgment that it's more fair for them to not follow the rules.

Interesting opinion piece I read a while back (which I can't find the link to) in regards to the P5 conferences attempting to take over BB along with FB and split D1.
According to the article, there is a thought that the NIT could become the mid-major national tournament while the NCAA would become the national tournament for the P5 FB expanding to P7 for BB (A10 and Big East). The P7 would expand to 16 teams, 112 teams fighting for the 64 (no play in) spots.
The NIT would be played first beginning a week prior to the P7 conference tournaments meaning the NCAA would begin after the NIT championship game.
The article was at least a year ago, I haven't heard anything since but nothing the Big Boys do would surprise me. Football will drive the ship, but I get the feeling Basketball would not be far behind.

UNI and Michgan both leading their games right now. See my point in calling this years tourny Upset Madness. The low seeds definitely came to play this year!

The night caps lived up to my expecations!! St. Joe's wins in a thriller! UNI on a shot the ages and ND-Michigan was a classic too!! Great first round of the tournament. It's made me forget about Temple's crushing loss just a little bit...

I feel you man. We lost in the same manner on the same basket 48 hours ago. You guys played a helluva game. But so did Notre Dame. I'm not sure where SFA goes from here. If nothing else, these last 3 years have you put you on the map. Now can you become a St. Mary's, VCU, Wichita State, UNI etc?

I didn't get to see the game but that's a rough one. SFA is fun to watch. Really wanted to see them worn that one
The tough part for SFA to really become UNI, WSU, VCU, St Mary's is money
The need to poney up, maybe even take on some sort term debt to kept Underwood. It will pay off in the long run
Not being able to keep him will hurt that program.
The other schools have all created a money/resources rich environment and made the coaches feel so comfortable that leaving isn't an option in their mind.
IDK if SFA can do that. The limit for SFA in the SLC is a 12 in a great year. UNI has 12 losses going into the NCAAs and pulls an 11.
I'd like to see Underwood stay, but SFA has a big hurdle to climb to keep him long term that is more complex than just salary. It's why Jacobson turned down TAMU in 2010

That was the worst 30 seconds of basketball I might have ever seen. Why they didn't try to long pass more on those inbound plays is beyond me. To give it to Waspun in the corner at the end was brutal.
I'm not sure how UNI can recover from that....
