We knew that he was going to get the ball constantly and we still couldn't stop him. Also nice job SIU on slowing down UTM's running game.

I just hope that UTM's showing today helped them gain a little respect. I hope everyone knows that they were for real this year. I know a lot of people thought that UTM was for real, but the Gateway fans didn't seem to think so.

We played well throughtout most of the game, defense stopped playing in the 3rd quarter, but they were out there for most of it. Couple of questionable calls really helped them, but they have a really good running back.

Well guys it was a great game today even though the game didn't end like I would have liked it. At halftime I was worried we would set on our lead and not move the ball. SIU came out the 2nd half and made some great defensive adjustments and did their part to win the game. Martin's inability to stop SIU on 3rd downs was huge. Whitlock is a stud, he is very elusive and patient. I liked him. I felt UTM was more successful in the passing game, with the one BIG EXCEPTION in the 4th.

One big gripe I have is with these A10 officials. They were horrible. They were indecisive on their calls. I believe they missed calls both ways all day. It seemed like the pace of the game was too fast for them. Couple of calls I thought were questionable were the first UTM fumble, the player was clearly down and then the ball pops out. I think Coach Simpson blew a gasket after that call. Then on the goal line it look like Arkee was stopped and UTM stripped the ball and was off to the races for a TD and the official signals a TD. Simpson blew another gasket after that since the referee wouldn't even come talk to him. I know the officials missed 2 pass interference calls (one on UTM and one on SIU). I hope they weren't the best refs the A10 have.

But it was a great atmosphere in Carbondale today. However, I found the fans to be crude and disrespectful. While waiting in line for my tickets, SIU fans thought it would be funny to call us a bunch of incest hicks. I mean cmon, I am all for good fun but be tasteful about it. Then the mascot comes over touches one of our cheerleaders then procedes to moon the UTM fans. At halftime, #11 from SIU gave the shocker to one of my buddies as they entered the tunnel.

UTM's first taste of playoff action is bittersweet. We choked and SIU took advantage and never gave up. I applaud them on that.
