Except the only thing asymmetrical in Stone's original campus was the water tower being off-center in the middle of the podium.

When the second level of boxes is added there won't be a tower. Shouldn't take more than 25-30 years to get funding.

HA!

So your campus has a bunch of communist looking buildings on it? I guess we better pay homage to s___t architecture!

smh
Mini,

Until the Bison step up to the bat and go back to an outdoor on-campus stadium, and Craig bohl sports a rug on the top of his head, you and your NDSU Buds have absolutley nothing on any outdoor facility in this great country we live in. A Dome...is not a facility to be proud of Son. Go ask your Mom, She'll set you straight..

....**** Mini, the Badlands Bowl over in Dickinson blows the Fargo Dome away. Play it outside. Keep it real!

...And BTW Mini....One might think Albany got their architectual footprint in Siberian-communist looking buildings on their campus from the State Capitol Building over in Bismark.

I like this post - and I like "Mini".

And if I could wave a magic wand, you're GD right I would convert that god-awful "thing" they call a state capitol building over in Bismarck. That's UND territory.

Wait til it's finished to pass judgement. There's only so much you can take from the computer generated models. I'll admit on its own the tower seems really really funky and ugly, but I trust it will be a good finished product and look forward to going to see a game up there.

I'm not saying your point is invalid...but when it's THAT obvious -- there's very little reality is going to be able to do to "smooth over" that colossal mistake.

Not sure if these have been posted yet, but these are the designs for the Gateway Project and I believe the same ones they showed on the game tonight. The word on the street is that the funding needed for the go-ahead by the Board of Regents has been secured. The rest will be secured through private donation and revenue created from commercial space within the venue. I believe the total price tag is somewhere around $72M and will include removing the track that surrounds the field. The field will be moved about 24' closers to the press box side not depicted in these pictures.

Wow. That expansion would give you a legit I-A stadium IMO. A few of those pictures are new to me. Didn't realize that was a completely new side of the stadium, rather than expansion of the home side.

Yeah, they'll just get rid of the crap bleachers on that side, get rid of the track, and move the field closer to the press box side.

Going for the lopsided look a la JMU :P But that's really awesome, I hope they actually get the funding and go through with it. And good for taking out the track, I'm sure there's many an App St poster salivating at the thought.

The final tower connecting pieces are in place and Bob Ford Field is really taking shape on this beautiful crisp winter day. The picture also gives a great idea on expansion for the first time. Both the elevator tower (South) and Stairwell tower (North) are set back in their connection to the press box. We always knew the top was left open for an upper VIP box expansion...but with the set back towers it looks like the upper deck can and likely would be completed in a wrap-around format to get to the 24k seat level. Great concept.

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Jan. 17, 2013 – Daktronics (Nasdaq – DAKT) of Brookings, S.D., announced today that the University at Albany (UAlbany), State University of New York, has asked the company to design, manufacture and install an integrated LED display system for the Great Danes home football games at their new multi-sport stadium.

The installation includes Daktronics first outdoor 15 millimeter pixel layout to feature Surface Mount Device (SMD) technology, where all 3-in-1 LED pixels are fixed to the surface of the printed circuit board. This main video display sits just behind the end zone and measures more than 21.5 feet tall by more than 38 feet wide.
“We are proud to partner with Daktronics, the industry leader, with an investment in the latest video scoreboard technology,” said Rick Coe, Deputy Director of Athletics for UAlbany. “This is an exciting time for UAlbany Athletics as we complete construction on our new stadium. We are looking forward to its opening this fall and providing our fans and the Capital Region community the highest quality game-day experience and environment possible.”

The main video display will incorporate excellent image clarity and contrast, multiple levels of protection from the elements and a new innovative cabinet design. It is capable of showing one large image to highlight live video and instant replays. It can also be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information and sponsor advertisements with outstanding brightness and wide-angle visibility.
The installation includes two LED message displays measuring 6 feet tall by nearly 11 feet wide and featuring 26 millimeter pixel layouts. These displays are located on each side of the scoreboard below the video display. They will provide the opportunity to showcase sponsors throughout events and provide up-to-the-minute statistics and game information.

A Sportsound® 2000HD audio system, which will be integrated with the video and scoring system, will also be added to the stadium. The system provides full-range sound reproduction and delivers clear and intelligible speech. The 2000HD provides a powerful audio experience for the fans. Daktronics audio offers high quality audio systems that can integrate with dynamic displays in indoor and outdoor sport venues.

Daktronics Creative Services was also included in the project to provide custom content in the form of video, graphics, animations and layouts for all displays at the new venue.

Attended my first game at Robins Stadium this past year and really enjoyed it. Would love it more if JMU could actually win a game there at some point. More than anything, I loved the super short walk from tailgating to the stadium. Simply amazing. At JMU, it's at least a 20 minute walk from my lot and that's if you're hustling.

Full build in a new location actually. The current field was rejected as a location because the field current runs east-west and the winds where terrible. This has been turned north-south to help block the wind.

Yeah, they put the turf in and built the fence at the near end. That's pretty much it. Although, now they have lights where the real stands should be, so someday, it will make a nice practice facility.

Holy crown bat man!

Maybe it's just an optical illusion.

Artificial turf fields don't require crowns for drainage.

Saw these plans to completely rebuild Bucknells Mathewson Stadium. They look great, any word on if they will be done?

I've never seen those!! They sure look cool!! The biggest crowds that file into CMS are on Friday nights for Lewisburg HS. Bucknell does not draw well enough for football to justify the cost imo.

I believe the last time the stadium was renovated was in 1990. When I made my first trip there in 1989 it was still a horseshoe. The stadium was literally crumbling apart then.

I'm pretty sure CMS hosts numerous HS track & field events. It's very much a "community" stadium despite the fact it resides on Bucknell's campus.

I found these on the website of the same architect who designed Robins Stadium. It appears they are quite new drawings. No one from Bucknell has any idea about them?

A few pics of our half finished stadium. As you can see, we still have the 1975 original "home side stands" in use. They are now visitor and student seating. Can't beat having your stadium right on campus, close to everyone and everything.

I love outdoor football. But this last year when it was 17 below not including the wind chill I was very happy to go in to a nice heated venue. Plus when it was 90+ for tailgate on an asphalt parking lot the A/C in the dome was nice after 5.5 hours of tailgating in the heat.

Oh yeah, when did you pick up your ring?

I wasn't talking about the team. I was talking about the fans. If you cant handle a few hours outside in the summer you need to take a serious look at your genitals and make sure you still have at least one ball left.

You people clearly need to go outside more if walking around while drinking cold beverages is difficult whatsoever.

The new part of the stadium is awesome!

Your overall stadium is like a real-time juxtaposition between FCS and FBS. Hopefully you can upgrade the other half similarly and find some room somewhere in FBS to squeeze in.
