If I can remember I will take some the next time I go by... I live about an hour away and go by about once ever month or so...

I rode by their stadium last week and it looked nothing like this rendering. The field turf is down and there were two sets of temporary looking bleachers on the visitors side. On the home side, there was the 4 story press box building standing as a lone sentry. Looked weird without bleachers in front of it.

No smack intended...just an honest question as I think ASU has done a great job w/ their quick upper deck expansion. My question is this: Do any of you Mountaineer fans know why there are so many portals/ aisles in the new deck?...Seems like an incredible waste of usable space.

I really do not know....suspect that state regulations probably have a lot to do with it.....there are some major requirements that are going into the new update that seem almost absurd. Seems like way too many handicapped requirements and restroom requirements, but I take it that there is reasoning behind it. Do like the idea of twice as many restrooms for women though.....worked well at Panthers Bank of America stadium in Charlotte.

There are only three tunnels from underneath, the rest are walkways up into the seating. I suppose there could have been fewer walkways, but I like not having to pass by 50 people to get to an isle. The first row of seats was elevated to see over the handicap seating at the front of the walkway across the front of the seating area. This created a quirky angle for the stairways in the seating area landing on the walkway, so stairs from the concourse had to be placed in a different location. It may look like a waste of space, but from the perspective of someone sitting in that first row I'm glad they did it that way. I have a clear unobstructed view of the action.

Its definately not the biggest stadium and we have heard that a new stadium is in the works in the next few years so we will have to see. But there are alot of people that have been supporting the program and who want to get involved so i predict a new stadium in the next 8 years

The away side is usually empty except for the rivalry games. Southern always fills up the visitors side of a stadium no matter how big. The Jaguar Nation rolls deep. When we play Alcorn the stadium is full. Of course that game is always in that stadium, and which team is home and away just switches each season. It fills up like that sometimes when we play Mississippi Valley but not every time. And it's usually extremely packed on either Homecoming or High School day. Usually on the road, JSU rolls pretty deep just like SU. I'm looking for a pic of my home stadium in Memphis to show what it looks like when JSU plays TnSU there.

SU Grad Class of '02, been following Southern since the Otis Washington days.

I knew that was SU because of the jukebox and the yellow shirts in the crowd.

the costs of running an FBS program are significantly higher than running an FCS program... higher coaching salaries, 22 more football scholarships (and 22 more women's sports scholarships for Title IX compliance, plus salaries to pay for THOSE sports' coaches)...

What's my point? Western Kentucky better be doing better than 22,000 fans for a home game... otherwise, they're going to have to spend all their non-conference games on the road collecting checks for "money games" while repeatedly getting their tails whipped. That also means only 4-5 home games a year (out of 12), with a likely losing record due to so many road games against elite competition. That doesn't tend to draw fans in...

I think that Ball State has suffered from that pattern. They don't even draw many fans when they're winning.

I hope that if App State ever does move to FBS, that they're absolutely ready. I'm pretty content where we are. We need to take care of business in the SoCon.

Oh, we're very serious...still have a ways to go, but we're making progress.

As for the new construction, everything is complete and we have full use of the Victory Club and media level...there are still some minor "touch-up" issues, but essentially everything has been completed...I need to take some pictures inside, just haven't had a chance yet...here's a segment that was on the Mike Lucas Show a couple of weeks back that features the Victory Club... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRTBfR8gOHc

I know the stadium enhancement at ASU has been displayed before, but here is a great pregame shot from the November 15, 2008 game vs Elon in Boone. Sun mixed in with freezing rain and some snow. At roughly the time of the photo, snow/sleet/rain was blowing in from the right (south) to the north, clouds moved in and frozen/slushy precip fell during a good part of the game...

At roughly the time of the photo, snow/sleet/rain was blowing in from the right (south) to the north, clouds moved in and frozen/slushy precip fell during a good part of the game...

I found this photo on raysweather.com in the photo of the day section posted by Andy Pennestri.

That is my guess as well, I haven't been in that part of the stadium, but with the ADA regulations and such, elevators would make the most since.

They are expanding the 15,000-seat Paul Snow Memorial Stadium to 20,000 seats, including new skyboxes, luxury suites and a press center. Those facilities would occupy the upper floors of a 400-room dorm

Even more amazing when you consider that the night before, the local weather stations were saying there was only a slight possibility for sleet or flurries, but more than likely it would be a rain event...I was up until 4:30 a.m. doing some work stuff and it was raining when I turned in...my wife wakes me up at 6:30 a.m. to tell me its snowing and there's at least three inches on the ground at that point...I couldn't believe it...it continued throughout the morning and eventually eight inches (or more) piled up in some areas...we've only had a couple of measurable snowfalls in south Louisiana in my lifetime, but nothing remotely close to this one.

These are from 2002, I think. This summer will see renovations of the fieldhouse in the west end zone finished, and the installation of a brand-new artificial playing surface. The place should be sparkling for the home opener Sept. 1.

It is to me the most beautiful place in the world.

By the way....I believe in that top picture that that is Grandfather Mountain....named as such, not just because it is that old, but from a slightly different angle it looks like someone's grandfather's face (man with long beard looking not quite straight up).....you can almost see it in that picture....it is a popular tourist attraction partially because of its "swinging bridge" from one mountain peak to another....it has a huge Scottish highlands games, and tons of bands ...maybe five or six playing at one time in different areas around the meadow on the side of the mountain where the games are held in July.

App State's mountain logo has a face coming out of the side of the mountain.....kind of depicts Grandfather mountain.

NO they really dont-- have you ever been to the Villanova campus? They are also located in an area that has some of the highest real estate value around. They are in the heart of the "main line" which is Philly's swankiest burg and land around the campus is being used and very expensive.

Here are some I took a few weeks ago along with ome of the new soccer stadium and ner baseball stadium entrance.

The soccer stadium is nice.

NDSU hoping to build something along those lines in the future where our current football practice fields are.

Does this mean next time you replace the turf at KBS they will get rid of the soccer lines?

They don't have dollars for 22 more football scholarships? UConn seemed to have pulled it off.

It wasn't scholarships that pulled it off, it was facilities. UConn had a friend in the governor's mansion and a legislature that quickly moved millions of dollars earmarked for a New England Patriots stadium to allow UConn to move up.

Villanova and Georgetown don't have control on I-A level facilities. That alone is a non-starter for the BE football folks.

I didn't realize USF controls Raymond James stadium?

Please, the BE would welcome Nova with open arms into the football conference. That would actually fix a lot of problems for them.

All it needs is one big donor to get the ball rolling. UCF put up a 45k stadium for 50 million.

Colgate has a very ornate looking profile to that stadium.

Richmond's layout almost looks like the Oakland Coliseum in a way (circular bowl, then the straight layout across the field).

Lehigh- great stadium, bad memories (for HU fans...)

Lafayette- wow, what a renovation. Haven't been there in about 9 years.

Any of you Boone goons have any pics of Kidd Brewer that aren't right up close to the new pressbox? I'd like to see what it looks like coming up stadium drive or from the stadium lot. GoASU is taking pics WAAAY up close, so you really can't get any perspective on how it looks as a whole. Many thanks!

Just to let everyone know, stadium renovations are in the works for Furman! Ex-Furman Star Jeff Blankenship has secured partial funding for the project which includes a new fieldhouse with luxury boxes, banquet rooms, patios, balconies, and a new Furman Football Hall of Fame. The plans for a new presstower include 10-12 luxury suites and span the length of the home side between the lightpoles! This is GREAT news! An official announcement will come in the next few weeks and renderings are being drawn up as we speak! :D

Thanks to PaulC and CJunior on TheUFFP for this info!

I would think so, as even though soccer had their own field, it was grass and easily flooded. Also, not shown in those pics are two other FieldTurf fields for the local youth soccer league.

There are rumors of a big Block A on the 50 when they change the turf.

Well yes and no, it was NDSU's original Stadium until they moved in the Fargo "Arena" (for Clenz:)) and now had the Astroturf ripped off and put Sprint Turf dowm. It will be used for multiple outdoor practices and events soccer being one of them from what I understand, there are 2 Natural grass practice fields for FB behind the Camera so this will come in handy when its too wet for the grass. I may be wrong but I don't think they are moving permanently here for practice but i'm sure ill be correctedxrolleyesx

Not all chairback. There's a premium section of about 20 rows or so at the 50 yard line that are chairback. Click the link for the Varsity House though. There are 40 pics of what has to be one of the best football houses on the East Coast (at least).

That's sweet, really like the big graphics thru the building.

Can't believe no one has posted new and improved Pics of Lafayette's Fisher Stadium. Here are pics for the Stadium and a link to the pics for the even more impressive Bourger Varsity House (dedicated exclusively to the football team).

Fisher Field really reminds me of Molson Stadium in Montreal. Except Molson Stadium has almost twice the capacity. but they really look similar to me.

I really like the symmetrical, crescent main seating and the new endzone facility.

But the other endzone looks like a giant eyesore.

People in that endzone might have to be happy they get any seat at all.

I agree about the eyesore, but suspect it won't be around much longer. We are already looking to expand stadium seating (it will be based on how well we sustain our attendance), and that will probably be the first thing to be replaced.

All in good time.

So I don't get it... you pee on the wall and then it runs down the wall and into the drain in the middle of the floor? Must have some stinky shoes around there.

Actually, if you look closely...the edge against the wall is lower...the pee goes down the wall and into the trough at the floor edge.

So, is this where everyone goes at halftime to stay warm? :)

(I remember during the really cold championship game between Delaware and Colgate...I walked down at halftime to take a leak and the bathrooms were standing room only...I asked what was going on and a Hen fan told me that "back home, this is where everyone goes at the half to warm up")

Bobcat Stadium has a pee wall as well. Ours is just concrete though, not marble.

That's honestly one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen... the backsplash has to go directly at you! I need an emoticon for vomiting!

There is an appropiate distance that one must stand from it. Proper angle of attack is important as well.;) However, if that drunk sumbi#$% beside of me pees on my shoes, well yea, that's disgusting. xnonono2x xlolx

It will be centered on the field, but it is being built so the upper deck can be wrapped around the far endzone in future phases so it will look a little lopsided until it's bowled in.

In answer to your question, yes and no.

The lower deck will seat a similar amount to past years. The upper deck and permanent endzone seating will be around 10,000. Don't forget, alot of seating room will be taken up by club seats and suites....

A typical response from the uninitiated. You see, this is a cascading pee wall! There is no back splash whatsoever.

Oh, I don't know about that. The direct hit to the wall is going to get smothered by the constant stream of water running down it, but there's definitely backsplash from the water hitting the trough. At least it's watered down urine and not full concentration urine.

I think UPenn has a pee wall on the visitor's side of the stadium, but with the renovations of Franklin Field, they may remove it.

I think ASU really missed an opportunity with their renovations by not installing the pee wall. I only hope the administration at JMU is more forward thinking...

Here's a smaller, but more complete overview of how the upper deck curves to include the corner and part of the endzone seating. As you can see, the press box looks perfectly centered at midfield.
